I found two ribbon snakes moving along the grass by the driveway. Only one permitted me a photograph! They were both about 20+cm. Also, a youngish watersnake that was run over. We have a bazillion crickets, yum yum for the snakes, who will soon hibernate.
I found an abandoned hornet's nest up in the tree! We had some another year, but they had black and white abdomens. iPhoto says they are vespa crabro. Either way, they be done shortly. The queen hides underground over winter and raises new workers for next year.
I do love the colours of the trees. These were taken through the bathroom window. The light is reflected into the room, for now.
Soon it will look like this!

I touched up my chair. It was Australian Timber Oil. (Non-mental note!)

It is still mostly green here, not many colorful trees.
The strawberries look yummy.
Take care, have a wonderful week.

Lovely autumn vibes! YAM xx
I always enjoy your posts...and today it's all about Autumn colors, and your projects. Love the light reflected into your home. I'm also thinking ahead to what winter might bring.
Wild chair!
Oh my! "Real" strawberries in October? How absolutely wonderful!
Winter is coming but the autumn is nice to see.
We have found that petunias are quite the volunteers.
Hornets can be very scary. they swarm and if you're lucky you don't get stung.
Wow and a great picture of the snake it was! All your critters are wonderful, a great post thank you.
I remember those Petunia the Goose books. I can really see how the ribbon snake got its name.
So glad those snakes are harmless. Hornets, on the other hand, scare me.
