Crumbly Acres Critters

Happy Saturday!

It's that time of year. Cool nights, and snakes bask in the sunshine in the day. They need to warm their bodies.

One year I found a pair mating on the dock! They swiftly move away and I apologize for disturbing them.

We had the first hummingbird of the season, May 5th. Then a lull. May 7th there were at least 2, male and female.

The porcupine made a cameo on the frog pond trailcam. I'd spotted it in the backyard last week.

Dratted Red Squirrel continues to fascinate the cats. And me. I'm surprised they don't get whiplash!

 The Imperial Moths are out!
June 5th, 2012

The ducks are on the frog pond.

Our limping coyote is still limping. So sad, but it is alive!

🌷 Spring seems to be springing, especially the temperatures. Up and down, up and down!
Saturday's Critters # 595 Eileen's been faithfully hosting this.

Passed one lonely duck in the swamp yesterday. I wonder how and why that happens.

Hello Jenn :)
A fascinating number of unusual creatures. Love the moth sighting and the Porcupine. Snakes not so much, they can be scary and dangerous. I have begun to see large lizards warming themselves on the warm stone, the snakes here hide in tall grass. Lovely shot of the Hummingbird and ducks- Splendid creature post.:)

Happy Saturday to you too. Snakes basking in the sunshine – a sure sign of the season! Wow, finding a pair mating on the dock must have been quite a sight! And how wonderful to see your first hummingbird on May 5th, followed by a little flurry on the 7th! A porcupine cameo on the trailcam – how fun! That red squirrel certainly keeps the cats (and you!) entertained. And Imperial Moths are out – so beautiful! Ducks on the frog pond – lovely. Poor limping coyote, but at least it's still going. This spring weather definitely keeps us on our toes with those up and down temps! Thanks for sharing all these wonderful critter sightings.

So cute to see the pair of Mallards on the dock, and one that was feeding in the pond, upended, get a breath, then back down again!

I don't know what to comment on first, the cute squirrel, the pretty moth or the snakes. lol So many critters. Have you ever been bitten by any of the snakes? I don't mind snakes per se but their fangs freak me out. I know that would hurt to get bitten. I had a pet rat that bit me when he got older and a little senile and those teeth are huge, that hurt like heck.

LOVE your critters.

Two male hummers as of Thursday. No females yet. For sure, one should always apologise for interrupting snake coitus. ... still giggling.
