USA – what have you done?

I'm not ignoring the news. I am shocked, dismayed, and worried. Some days you let it go, others you point out the racism, extreme right-wing whackadoodle ideas.

With the US election, the state of affairs have devolved. Russia is bombing Ukraine. Ukraine is enacting a response.

Red: Russian action; Blue: Ukraine

The US military continues to monitor the situation.

During the US election, Twitter posts were limited by Musk's algorithms. Many of us have gone to 🦋Blue Sky 🦋. There were 13 million users, then a million new users in one day, next count 15 million. Now, there are many more.

UPDATE: Nov. 27:

I liked Twitter, as I found some actual breaking news. There were biologists who helped me with critter IDs. People who shared cute critter images have migrated to Bluesky.

👫👬👭In the US, they are trying to forbid the first elected transgendered politician from accessing facilities.
"G.O.P. lawmakers whose leaders have pressed to roll back transgender rights around the country moved to bar Sarah McBride, the first transgender member of Congress, from women’s rooms on Capitol Hill."
Having a transgender grandson, and a gay granddaughter, I am appalled. How do they determine if people visiting the washrooms, changing rooms, and locker rooms are biologically male or female. What are they afraid of? With Trump, Gaetz, Hegseth, all with a history or conviction of sexually abusing girls or women (all rich white men), all having paid non-disclosure agreements to women, you wonder who should be afraid of whom.

When you know better, you do better. That's the theory. Read about the issues, try to understand the biology of it all, you are in a far better place. Or just live and let live.

It's so sad. But the sun came out this morning. I'm so grateful to be alive at this time to experience this wonderful growth of our culture, which of course means going forward a step, then backward a step. Hope your grands are treated well.

Hello,
I am also shocked and worried. It could be this was our last real election. I find it hard to believe people want to go back in time, as far as the 1930's. Take care, have a great day!

Jenn, you put a lot of thought into today's post. I am so thankful I do not live in the US. Josh is off to Prince George then McKenzie, the temps are frigid!! Work for 12 days up there, this will be something SO different even to the winter in our far south,.Hang in, ignore what doesn't affect you, try to ignore what does. XXX to you both.

If you think YOU'RE having trouble with this, think about living in it. Canada will only let us stay six months and I'm pretty sure we couldn't afford (or maybe even want to) go farther, mostly because of the grands. very single day it gets worse and worse. I'm afraid to read the paper or watch the news anymore. And yet, we need to keep on top of it to figure out best how to resist. It's a mess.

Da mucha pena como los intereses politicos y económicos hacen que la guerra prospere. Te mando un beso.

Hi Jenn, another very thought-provoking post that I will bookmark and come back to. I turn on the news first thing and share your concerns. Wishing you and your family only the very best.

Interesting breakdown of sexes. I had not seen this information before. Always more to learn.

I am with you on this. The mentality of the anti gay and anti transgender movement confounds me. I have family that are gay and have struggled for years with that. I have two friends who gambled big in our rural area when they transgendered. Those close to them supported them. Those others?
Well you know how that story goes.
I have a grand kid who doesn't feel male or female and her parents are pushing for her to 'find a man' and get married.
The gall of it all.

The GOP is being disgusting on the whole gender thing. Here in Oklahoma somebody I know was tracking all the anti trans legislation the last five years. There were 95 bills introduced on the matter. Not all of them passed.
Since we vote in every single election, and the Oklahoma turnout is the nations lowest, we get visited by all the local politicians. So for the GOP guys running for the state house and senate I would bring up the number and ask if they thought if trans people needed pounded some more or we could take a rest. They all bring their wives and act embarrassed.

I think the war in the Ukraine will be over by Jan 20 or shortly there after. I am still struggling with figuring out all the genders, it is so confusing. Seems like it used to be less confusing.
