Out and about

We had an horrific boating incident that took place on Bobs Lake on the May long weekend. Finally, after extensive investigation they have charged a drunk boat driver. His arrogant posts on FB demonstrate a lack of respect for people living on the water. Neighbours on the small lake, with many small inlets, has speed laws they say he flaunted all the time on his cigarette boat.

I have a story for you, but I have to set it up. I found some debris on the highway on Monday garbage day, 2 weeks ago.

This is where Joe found a deer carcass. I couldn't figure out why the vultures and crows were circling so often. The carcass was half gone, and the critters have been working on it.

This is the view out the back deck, looking towards the highway where the deer lies. It's been there about a week.

Out the bathroom window is where I can see best.

Our bedroom is 55 m away from the spot. I was lying in bed reading when I heard the coyotes. It sounded so close! Leaping up, and looking out the back yard, I realized what it was. Cinnamon was standing in the hallway, looking out towards the door in utter horror!

🎃 Aster and I texted on Sunday, they'd been working on their pumpkins. Papa posted photos for the family. Mama, Papa, Aster and Jo's pumpkins in that order below!

Jesse tested me a photo from Vancouver. Cluny and Bryony were good to go for Hallowe'en! Raccoon Burglar and Puss in Boots!

The costumes and pumpkins are so precious! After the deer has been there so long, I'm surprised the coyotes are still interested, but if they were that close it's good you had Cinnamon to protect the house!

the kids look so cute in their costumes. Hope they had a good evening and collected lots of goodies. What a headache for you all with the boating accident. I don't understand how so many people get on boats and never think of the dangers of drinking and boating. Hope November will be a good month for you...I'm sure you all are Winter ready by now.

People need to be more responsible for driving or boating crazy.

Sadly we have those arrogant drunken drivers here. A few years back one of them had an accident. He was seriously injured and killed two of his friends and a person in another car. He lost his licence. Before his 'good behaviour' period had ended he was in another drunken accident (driving a stolen car). His passenger was badly hurt. Three people (including a four month old baby) in the other car died. So did he. In my books he is/was a serial killer.
Love the carved pumpkins, and those very cute outfits.

Don't start me on driving/drivers. Rick had two cars end up in the middle of his lawn the other night -- one about 15 feet from his living room window -- due to a hit and run. I love Cinnamon!

That boating accident! When I was a kid we rowed old wooden boats on our lakes. The summer people with speed boats were pretty reckless. We even had out boat overturned by a speed boat once.
Yikes.

I put a trail cam on a deer carcass in the woods once and the animals that visited were surprising. Most of the visitors were birds, skunks, and possum. The coyotes took what they wanted and then left the rest to the others.
Good detective work!
