Most small towns have several churches, since back in the day the Catholics didn't hang out with the Protestants, and vice versa.
These cedars are massive and carefully trimmed!Kemptville, $429,900 |
Farm with private lake for sale: $3.8 m –just east of Kemptville, 137 acres! |
We'd brought our lunch, in order to have a picnic. I sent us around Kemptville, hoping for a small park, or a spot by the river. Gillian GPS was helpful. I ended up sending us around a suburban area (below, right).
These were massive homes, who have their own backyard parks with trampolines, and other pieces of equipment. No parks here. As we drove in circles, notice the clouds moving in!
This home, as we left the area, is quite interesting. It would be a great setting for a Murder Mystery!
As we drove, I spotted this signage: but no park, and a closed gate.
Ever onward...more signs of Autumn. The blackbirds are gathering, practicing flying and getting ready for migration. Farms are harvesting the hay.

Not hard to understand why those old houses are converted to apartments. Can you imagine the property taxes, the upkeep, the heating bills etc?
What a beautiful place! I searched online, and the location is a 3-hour drive from Toronto. Maybe one day, we will visit.
I'm thinking a drive to Burritts Rapids would be a nice outing soon. There is a little spot there to sit and eat lunch.
My friend and I are heading to Fiber Fest in Almonte on the 9th. HOpe it's a lot easier to get around this year AND find a place to quietly eat our lunch.
What a nice trip. It's a shame parks are so hard to find... Around here people take old houses and gut them. "Open concept". But seriously I think we're past the curve on that. Isn't most of the world ditching the whole open concept idea?
An interesting post I enjoy going about with you. Jenn, Aloha!
What a range of homes and prices, probably on a par with what are for sale here.Even in our small town, when 25 years ago you could get admittedly a much older home and needing lots of TLC for $100,000 or less, now you pay upwards of over $350,000 and still need to do some work.A lovely day for a drive.
Such a variety of architectural styles. I hope you did find a park for your picnic.
we have been land hunting for i think 2 years now ...my hubby and i want something that is for the long term (retirement home) nothing yet. prices are nuts and what they give ya for the $$$ is not that great. we are picky in that we don't want close to others, i mean within reason, nice view, easy upkeep, easily going to my parents, and we are shocked that so many times we find something that fits our requirements and then it is bought without us even having a chance. a lot of the times it is sight unseen. i feel that is unfair. like we never had a chance ever. not cool. but it is fun to see places and see what u would change or keep. we have been doing the Air BNBs and not camping any more ...and we have even started saying what we would change with those. amazing what folks do and what they could do for such a small amount of $$ we are not talking big changes just something that would give it such curb appeal or really add to this or that. wondering why they have not done so??! ( ;
I enjoyed your photographs.
Autumn/Fall is approaching quite fast now ... one of my favourite seasons.
All the best Jan
I'm still worried that you didn't get any lunch unless I missed it.
...home prices are enough to take your breath away!
Beautiful colors and houses.
I'm a fan of wraparound porches myself. We had one on a house we lived in when I was four. Didn't matter what direction weather was coming from, we always had a dry or shady side to play on.
Those little houses are really cute but oh! That wraparound porch! I've always wanted one and that is a beauty!
Lovely autumn colours.
