Ecosia, Twitter and PRIDE month

I've switched search engines to EcosiaGoogle has about 6 months until the Canadian government cuts off new items without  remuneration to Meta and Twitter. Australia did a fine job negotiating. You'd think, with these tech giants, and their billions of dollars of profit, that the billionaires would support journalism and journalists.

What can Canada learn from Australia's bid to make big tech pay for news?

Canadian lawmakers are locked in a dispute with internet technology companies over a law that would compel them to pay news publishers for content, years after a similar regulatory saga played out in Australia.

Musk was limiting traffic on Twitter. I cruise it looking for what is happening around us.

In the meantime, they are pointing out some issues, if you read the fine print.

"The real agenda is to erase the LGBTQ community from visibility. Because queerness and visibility makes them uncomfortable. " – @QueerGrandad
That is the end of PRIDE MONTH! It really is amazing how threatened and fearful some (theoretically) straight people get. In fact, 8 people were arrested in Alberta for child exploitation and child pornography. Not an LGBT or drag queen in the bunch. This I learned on Twitter.

June wasn't very wet. July has begun.
Gramma Camp begins today. We'll see what the weather brings.

The cats have been happy in the air conditioning! It has been hot and humid.

Instead of educating us, people are using the internet to enhance their ignorance and stupidity.

I haven't been out much, and my news is limited especially as to what's happening locally. I'm glad my church has a little sign saying it's a welcoming congregation...which is even said at the beginning of services as well. The air feels clean after last nights thunderstorms, so windows are open for a while till it heats up out there. Have a great week (camp too?)

I don't understand why people feel threatened by LGBTQ people and thoughts. I've always been a big believer of "you do you" and as long as it doesn't negatively impact or hurt anyone or anything, it's OK. Maybe because I was in theatre, which had/has a large gay population, I was exposed to individuals decades ago and they were/are wonderful people who were kind, fun and just wanted to live happily like others were afforded. There are jerks in every population, to be sure. But why it threatens is beyond me.

Lucky cats.
We will see how our negotiations go. I suspect that the big guys will do their very sneaky best to avoid paying.
Hooray for Pride Month, and a hiss and spit at those whose fears lead them to interrupt story time.
