Tiger lilies!

First, my tigers. They have been prolific! We cannot walk down the steps without getting pollen on us.  They are interesting plants that produce those little seeds, and they are all over the place.

I saw a post on the 'barter or for free' page on Facebook. A woman wanted some tiger lilies for her new home. I knew I had to prune ours, so I replied. We agreed to meet on Tuesday at the Metro at 4. I hauled them out of the ground, roots and dirt intact, and put them in two bunches in a plastic bag. Good to go!

I'm not sure the before and afters give a good picture, but here you are! My fall chore is to dig out a little ditch all along the sides of the sidewalk, to allow for water drainage.

It was funny. I haven't been to town in weeks. First, from the comfort of the back deck I ordered a pizza and wrap for us for dinner for 4:15. I had two library books ready for pick up, so I did that at 3:45, then toodled on to Metro. My contact was there. A delighted woman, who'd moved to McDonald's Corners and missed the tiger lilies from her former home. I was so happy to donate them to her. She was so happy to receive them. Next, I picked up our dinner and headed home, feeling good, and that I helped a stranger.

Back to my morning. I had a busy morning, cleaning the bird bath and the goldfish pond pump. I've a big brown leopard frog!

My rose finally blossomed! It is in the shade of the hibiscus, but it has come through.

Then there is the hops vine. I haven't noticed many comma or question mark butterflies. Maybe they will turn up now that the dratted LDD caterpillars are gone.

The tree frogs are a hoot in the vine. Some are vocalizing, which is well beyond spring mating season. Apparently, they like to practice their songs.

We've got leafhoppers, ants, moths, bees, lady beetles, on which to feed! Their frog poop is getting bigger.

We do have some fall webworms who made a nest on the vine.

The LDD moths are laying eggs, but they are mostly done for now. This is on my catalpa tree.

Deep in the forest... ghost pipes.

One more monarch caterpillar!

Those are genuine tiger lilies and not what most people call tiger lilies.

It's great that you were able to meet up with the lady who craved Tiger Lilies. That's what good neighbours are for!

She will always think of you when she looks at her lilies!

I'm still finding the odd caterpillar on my milkweeds too. My neighbour just popped in to show me the tiniest toad he ever saw. It was no bigger than my baby finder nail, not even half an inch.

Those Tiger Lilies make a wonderful splash of bright orange, and another garden will also get the same, thanks to you.Lots of bugs and insects, down here I saw the first Daffodils flowering in another garden this week. Spring is nigh!!!

Lovely encounter at the Metro! I can imagine how good you felt after giving the woman what she so badly wanted: tiger lilies.
