The adventures begin

Well, the adventure of COVID-19 unfolds with 134,700 identified as having it.

In the morning, our provincial Premier announced that all was well with the world, and kids should go off on their March Break vacations and enjoy them. In the afternoon, he sent out the education minister to tell us that after next week's March Break the schools would remain closed for two weeks to ensure traveling kids don't bring back CORVID-19 to their schools.

My fear? Families with money will extend trips. Cynical me! People are spending 2 or more hours trying to cancel trip plans.

We have the kids next week during March Break. Likely we have them for two more weeks. We cleared our calendars.

The facts are slowly coming out: about 20% of people with COVID-19 have severe or critical symptoms. COVID-19 has a 3-4% death rate, flu 0.1%.

Our Prime Minister's wife, Sophie Grégoire Trudeau, brought back COVID-19 from a speaking engagement at a fundraiser in the UK. Justin Trudeau is now self-isolated, as a precaution. He'll be able to work from home!

We needed to get out of the house. We took off to Newboro, for lunch at the Stagecoach Inn. it was a sunny day, prior to our big dump of rain, and a good opportunity.

The bee hives aren't ready for business yet.

Dead ends, and cottage country signage. Lots of places for social isolation and to explore!

There was only the odd car or truck. A nice, peaceful drive.

Frozen wetlands...

This is, obviously, a drive-by; the bovine colours were amazing.

I love this rusty boat. I'd paint it bright colours, though!

Another drive-by, there were quite a few geese about. It's so good seeing them.

Some of the birds are back so early, the mergansers don't mind the ice and the cold, as they are flying north to breed.

The outdoor market looks pretty bleak. Soon...

Newboro

Imagine, they were using snow machine across this piece of ice a couple of weeks ago!

At home, Cinnamon had fun in the sun. I have a video of him standing in the water in a puddle. He is a hoot. I'll get on that for tomorrow. It's pouring rain today. I hooked the water barrels up again.

Good for you getting out like that.

We had our usual coffee time with friends.

BTW, the figure that I came across last night from a guy at Johns Hopkins was 0.6%, which is still 6x influenza. We shall see. It might be country or even region dependent for all I know.

I came home with a headache, AC. The cataracts.

The data I heard was from an interview with a Canadian research, physician, overseas. It's going to be on a W5 show.

Our lifestyle won't change much. Our larder is stocked so we won't need to shop for a VERY long time. Our recreation is walking in our own bush and going for drives hither and yon. My heart goes out to families though. How on earth will they cope?

Are the travellers still flying down here? I worry about their return to Canada. A friend has postponed her trip here in April, from Australia, another has cancelled his visit, also from Oz, and my friend has had to cancel her birthday do in April, at a retirement village if a person has been overseas, or a visitor arrives, they have to self isolate for 14 days. This is if they feel ill or not I believe. Enjoy your isolation, relatively speaking, on your land, away from busy city areas, order what you can online, and stay safe. I ask the cats are they virus free, before they get a feed? NO reply so far, just a few more meows as they wait for their treat, 2 Temptation biscuits each. !!! Your spring weather is starting, down here, darker mornings, the heat pump warms the dining room early, and the fire is all set to be lit soon. Further south, the fires have been lit already.

I heard about her contacting the virus...hope she'll be okay. As I hope soon, for the world. Love all the country scenes - beautiful, all of it. Enjoy the time spent with family.

It's safe to just go for a nice drive thank goodness! It is all so scary Jenn!

Great scenery on that drive.

Second comment, I read that only some airports in Canada will remain open to incoming overseas flights, and everyone is advised to avoid all non-essential travel. Stay home Jenn, let JB fuss and look after you and the kitties, or let them look after you both.

Our borders are open, Jean. It's the US that is doing something about that. Maybe. Trump doesn't know WHAT he is doing.

So now your prime minister's wife and our Tom Hanks and his wife. They say that really made people panic to think even Tom Hanks contracted the disease. Lucky for him he was in Australia because he wouldn't have been able to be tested in the U.S.
