1. First stop was Salaberry-de-Valleyfield. We left at 8:50 a.m., and made it to there for lunch.
We began in sun, and found some fog.
There were a lot of transports on highway #401.
Fortunately, we were heading towards the city, and they had likely left Ottawa early.
There was lots of reconstruction along the way.
First stop: lunch in Salaberry-de-Valleyfield. It is an island.
We practised our French, which went pretty well. Although, once they hear our abysmal pronunciation, they tend to revert to English for us! For example, it was a restaurant where you couldn't buy wine with your lunch, but you could have them open yours there. I didn't get that part!
The city is lovely, with many contrasts. The traffic lights are different.

Lovely trip! Haven't been to Quebec in a long time.
Two reds, then one orange and green? in the overhead traffic lights? Lovely wide roads with a huge grass strip, lovely for you both to have a get-away together.
Your hubby looks undecisive as to what to eat. No wonder, there's such an attractive variety of food on the plates!
Practicing your french is a worthy cause. Language is such an asset!
sounds like a nice a trip, the feast looks yummy!! our weather has been nice, cool and fall like!!
This seems very adventurous to me. Having lived in southwestern Ontario for so long, I still tend to think of Quebec as a distant place. It's hard for me to wrap my head around the fact that Montreal is closer than TO.
Quite a trip!
Looks like a lovely road trip. We've only been in Quebec a few times. The first we had lots of trouble finding anyone to help us with our English. The last time people were more helpful. I speak a smattering of Spanish but French is a language I never learned. - Margy
