NaPoWriMo Day 21 –Fairy Tale

Day 21

dear little deer mouse
I'm so sorry for your fate
you misunderstand your place in the world
you acted much like bait

roared down the chimney on the bricks
you were an enticing find
grabbed the attentions of three felines
not the fate for which you'd signed

first Dorah chased you under the dresser
twas quite an exciting chase
tail a thumping in the dawn
somehow you lost the race

around the house the cats did run
all seemed to be quite merry
then Annie got you in the end
you should have been more wary

It was a good challenge Day 21, but since Annie captured a deer mouse in the house, right after I saved 3 babies in the shed, I thought I'd write a warning!
They are everywhere in the shed!

Day 21 – NaPoWriMo.net: I challenge you to write a poem in the voice of minor character from a fairy tale or myth. Instead of writing from the point of view of Cinderella, write from the point of view of the mouse who got turned into a coachman.

Mice are so cute, but I prefer them to stay outdoors. :-)
