What a mild week!

In the forest, there are signs of the bucks fighting for their females and territory!
This guy keeps visiting us. It's a poor photo, but he came by just about 5:30 for a visit. We all ran to the kitchen window to look at him! He needs a name. He looks a bit like Sir, from last year. The key is to look at the antlers!

We are still debating about the rutting season, and then when they will drop their antlers, after they don't need them in January, or so. Lots of scuffling in the leaves.

Our neighbour is building a new log home across the wetland, beyond the frog pond. At first, the cats were deeply suspicious! There is a lot of hammering. He's only used it for a hunting camp in the past. You cannot see anything, but in the far tree tops is his part of the wetland.

I took Daisy and Annabelle down to the frog pond. It didn't go well. They both had a good run. Daisy trapped Annie under the dock. Sigh.

Annie spied a woodpecker atop the tree. She looks longingly up at it!

Next day, Buster and Annie...

Run, Annabelle, and does this mean you will have a near neighbour?

Nearish, I suppose, Nancy! We don't really talk to our neighbours across the highway, either, though!

We haven't seen the deer in the yard, but lots of signs of their activity. The poor young maples are taking a beating from the antler scrapes by the young moose too.
Loving the warm weather and lack of snow. Getting well ahead on next years firewood seeing as we can get into the bush lot easily. Past experience has me feeling anxious though. I think once winter hits it will roar in with a vengence
