It's a dance between me and my deer friends

Yes, not so much a battle, since Bambi was here long before humans. I'm not so upset when they graze. Most of the time, despite my research, I find they'll eat 2/3 plants. Unlike Fred Groundhog, they don't uproot plants!

It's pretty enough, all transplanted from beside the house.
In the distance, Oliver's Lot.
I used elm logs to make a barrier.
It was a new garden I'd built. I never even thought about Bambi at the time. However, I surely should have. Me bad.

I suspect it is the buck, the one with a tumour on its flank. He doesn't seem to be in pain. Thing is, there is lots to eat, but my budding Asiatic lilies must have drawn him! It's my own fault. I saw him down on Oliver's Lot (our lot #2) and he watches me, but doesn't flee.

I spotted him on the Grassy Knoll yesterday. Lots of great grass to eat. He is fattening up. Don't you love those ears? Seeing him there, I know it must be a safe place. No coyotes or wolves today!

We have two deer who hang about in summer. This buck has some sort of tumour on its flank. He seems healthy otherwise. The pregnant doe dissappeared for a few days. I spotted her on the same grass knoll yesterday. I'm keeping my eye out for a fawn!

Look closer: chop!

He left me one, at least!

Chop off their head! ( or hosta leaves)

This totally stripped!

attempt #1 - but I ran out of chicken wire fencing!
Saturday's #28
Do you like the meme badge I
made for Eileen?!
This won't keep him out, but I bought more wire...

Those ears are hilariously huge!! It's a shame they insist on having your flowers for dessert, though.

He is a handsome buck!

My parents gave up on a vegetable garden finally after the deer finished off their whole bean crop.

They're beautiful animals, but there's not much left of your flowers.

I love the deer, they are so pretty. Prettier than the groundhogs that eat our plants and flowers.. Great post. Thank you for linking up with my critter party. Have a happy weekend!

I like your log border. I am so lucky that deer don't come near our cabin because of the granite cliff location. - Margy
