Cottage Islands in Lake Ontario and St. Lawrence River

We took a trip to Ganonoque, and I am always amazed at the little islands that have cottages on them. Part of it is on the St. Laurence R. and one is a resort. It was a lovely day to get out and do some drive-by shootings! These little spots would be places where people couldn't survive in the good old days. I'm not sure I'd survive on these teeny little islands. These are busy waters!

Gorgeous views!

That one with the remaining chimney structure has a certain poignancy to it.

I think it's sad that they let people build o these small islands. I think they would be much more beautiful with out houses. some of the natural critters could reclaim their homes on these islands.

It must be wonderful to live on a private little island unless there's a flood. Amazing to find so many of them.

Gananoque is a lovely little town and one of my favourites. I'm hoping to get back there this summer and be out on a tour. I especially want to see Boldt Castle again (haven't seen it since I was a teen).
Great pictures!
