On my way home the traffic was amazingly bad. One dude passed three cars, traveling in the oncoming lane towards me. You feel that giant intake of breath as you hope he gets back into the line of cars. He was trying to pass 4 cars. I honked. Drive carefully out there. Someone loves you or your victim.
On the way home, the OPP happily were stopping cars doing a RIDE check, methinks. I was just happy that they slowed the traffic down!
I slowed down for a snapping turtle, medium-sized, which stopped mid-highway.
As I slowed, an oncoming car spotted it in her lane. She swerved gently. I parked the car no a side road, and walked back to check on it. I encouraged it to keep on going, quickly. We have too much road kill of our endangered snapping turtles. They are a 'species of special concern'.
Back home, I spent 90 minutes cutting the grass on the lawn tractor. It was good to get out and about.
Mr. or Mrs. Phoebe perched on the tree watching me, as I had to get the noisy tractor out of the shed beside their nest. It wanted to ensure I wasn't going to harm the babies. I've been taking a photo once a day. They are growing nicely.
I checked in on our Phoebe chicks. All looks good. Feathers are growing, and they are being well-fed, as momma and poppa capture numerous bugs for us! This phoebe was at my daughter's house!

I'd love to see a heron rookery. I'm sure there are some around that I just haven't discovered yet.
Beautiful babies and mamma catches bugs -- what more could you ask for?
We're on our roadtrip and I hate to think about it, but the traffic is crazy everywhere.
For the traffic you should stand out there and give the bad guys a dirty look. don't stand by your house or anybody else's house.
glad the traffic calmed down, poor wildlife!
The Heron rookery looks popular. Some people just have to drive like lunatics. Love the cute Phoebe chicks! Have a happy weekend!
I don't ever remember seeing a turtle with a tail. Is it just me? Or am I getting forgetful. Or even old?
Oh, I love the gosling doing exercises.

There are always idiots on the roads who care about no-one but themselves. It's the same here.
Great shots of the snapper and the phoebes, the chicks are really cute :-))
Thanks for visiting my 'Sleeping Geese' post.
Those chicks are getting big!! Hard to think they have to be ready to migrate when they are just a few months old...
