While the time away

My artistic and artist friends have inspired me. Whilst sitting bedside, with a frail, palliative hospice client, I took out my pencils and paper. Thoughtfully, bringing them to while away the three hours, I find it a peaceful endeavour.

Christine,
you inspire me!

Jenn, what a WONDERFUL gift of your inner "Wise Woman" you give, by sitting at the bedside of the dying. Bless you. I love that your drawing is all about life and hope and spring - very affirming. I know that when one is aware of Conscious Dying, what we are even more aware of is Conscious Living. Thanks for sharing your gifts with us:)

Jenn — I echo what Sherry said. I can't say it any better. I have sat at the bedsides of my dying parents, and I wish I'd had the gift of art to while away the hours as I listened to the breathing stop, then start, then stop and start again, then start, then stop forever.

I love the movement and meaning between the three images. And, like Sherry, I know that when we are more engaged in the reality of dying we become more engaged in the nuances of living.

Jenn, first time visitor, from Real Toads. Your hospice work is admirable. There is the wise woman in you, who has artwork handy; there is also the frail wise woman, making her way to "the other side." The picture was sad but something we all must face, should we be lucky to live to that age... how one dies depends on God's timing and our willingness to let go. Peace, Amy

You know how people always tell soldiers 'thank you for your service'? Well, that's what I would like to say to you. Thank you for your service. Hospice and hospice workers have been a Godsend for me and my family.
