Like ants on aphids

I do love close-ups.
These aphids were being attacked by ants. Busy little ants in my garden. This was last week.

This week the flowers have had it. The impatience are frosted beyond their ability to cope.

Pretty little moth came indoors.
Then I found another smallish praying mantis in the garage. Don't let those prayerful arms fool you. The other big one I found last month pinched me and it hurts!

When I was in my garden in July there were ants on my carrot flowers. I wonder if there were aphids there at the time or if there is something else they like to eat. - Margy

I like to have ladybugs to eat aphids. They're cuter than ants.
Ouch, being bitten by a praying mantis does not sound like fun.

Ant's don't eat aphids, they 'farm' them for their sweet secretions. It's quite fascinating to watch, especially when a Lady Bug tries to attack. The ants will chase them away!
Can you tell I have too much time on my hands? :)

How do they farm them, Netty? That's really interesting. Time wasted is time well-spent!

Quite interesting and a lot deeper than I could see
