Guess who is coming to dinner?

The heron...came for dinner

as we read beside the lake, behind the plants and flowers. The lake was quieter than yesterday, it being Monday afternoon and the long weekend over. The traffic on the highway was steady, the lake traffic lessening.
What was for her dinner? Sunfish, mostly. Gulping three down in short order.
Jeremiah bullfrog 1 and 2 have been laying low.

The birds are eating up for their big trip south.
There were a pair around September 3rd.

Here is my heron video from the long weekend.

The Herons are majestic. Lucky bullfrogs got missed.

Jenn, I adore GBHs! Great video!

I got my first Oliver Schroer CD last week, after you turned me onto him with one of your videos. Oh, swoon!, his music leaves such a lump in my throat. Thank you, thank you, for introducing me to him.

That's a wonderful video of a beautiful bird. We have herons here in Powell River, but ours are a bit different. They have tufts on their heads. I think they are Great Blue Herons. Yours has such a long, graceful neck. - Margy

Great pictures. We get herons through Oklahoma on their migration. Maybe we'll see some of yours passing through?

Thanks Margy & Yogi!
You just might. The flight paths are becoming narrowers, what with human development. I'll let you know...
The geese are gathering and zipping over head to a more quiet lake. My goal today: to capture a flight on video. Two have done over (about 2 dozen in each) but I am slow!
