seasons

Time at the cottage is precious. The season is short. Some say we have two seasons: bugs and snow. Others say boats in and boats out.

I say we have 4: bugs, snow, construction and tourists, not mutually exclusive.

How great to see our seasonal visitors back. Well, some of them.

Just to vent: folks across the way had their spotlight on until well after 1:00 a.m., shooting firecrackers at 10:30 p.m., which thankfully stopped. But the music kept up until 1:00. The sound travels so easily over the water. Such an intrusion.

Some fire them off 5 nights in a row.

We are powerless. It takes police 45 min, at least, to get here, then they need a boat as it is boat access only...yikes. It went down to 10 degrees C. last night. At least they didn't have a fire. The day time temperatures are high enough that we open our windows at night. The stink from fires is awful.

I saw this post: Some of our noisy neighbours, then realized she was talking about 4-footed ones! We have those, too. But usually only in winter when the lake freezes over.

What are your seasons?

We're blessed with winter, spring, summer and fall up here on the Plateau, but we also have tourists. The house across the street from us is now a summer home, and we're delighted when they head back to their other home. I don't know what we'll do when they retire and move here full time.
