Grandies, Day 2

I'd banked the fire Thursday night. Friday morning I had coals, but it was so cold even the fire didn't want to get going! (The girls snorted when I said this to them!) Isabelle cheered me on from her nest on the couch. Every morning, "Thank you, Gramma!" when I work to revive the fire.

Grampa had an appointment for foot care in town. He was up early, and off he went.

I was watching news. Note the morning temperature!
Izzy emerged around 9:30. Jos about 10 a.m. The fire needed help, says Iz. We bragged to Momma that we were easing into the day. She was working at home on her laptop, by the fire!

The kittens were quite busy.

Out the front window, I called the girls to look, was a doe and yearling. Nutmeg was watching the 'giant squirrels', too.

After breakfast, we took off for the auction house. I'd participated in the online auction. There were some lovely pieces to be had, at a fraction of the original cost. The first were silver earrings, the second pearl earrings, surrounded by small gems. They were more than I wanted to spend these days. As I recall, the freshwater pearls set in 14 kt. gold, were valued at $885 and went for $220.

This is what I ended up with:

It was so cold.
I grabbed my Burt's Bees lipstick, put it on in the car. The road was really bumpy with our freeze/thaw weather patterns. I told the girls I managed to put my lipstick up my nose. They snorted, again!

Small town Ontario, he was wandered across the highway, having just visited his post office, at his own pace!

Sadly, a home lost in a house fire.

I really liked this bright red mailbox. It helps to have them visible, as the snowplows often blow right through them!!!

Barn charm

We made it. Someone else got the snowy owl print!

Icicles...

Miller's Bay Farm always has great signage!

We arrived home for lunch, and Valentine's celebrations! There was much art work done

Grampa favours these musical cards!

For grampa, I'd bought two door stops!

For fun, I bought a handsome Tiger!

I asked Isabelle if she was interested in the shells in the 18" glass jar. She said she had a collection of shells from her trips. She's rather have her own collection, with shells that are meaningful to her. What a lovely comment!

I have little chance of visiting anywhere with shells. I thought I would help a family trying to pass on lovely pieces from an estate, and give it a new home.

We made it to 3 p.m., movie time. Actually, we were late. It was 3:03!
It was Maleficent.

Nutmeg was napping with Lambie. The kittens will miss them. Nutmeg was just settling in with them.

Valentine's Day dinner was pizza. I ordered it, and Grampa picked it up. We'll have leftovers for breakfast. Well, not Joffie. She doesn't do pizza in the morning! Izzy and I do!
Hostage exchange is at 10 a.m. in CP, in the mall parking lot. Both girls have more sleepovers, arranged prior to our caregiving Thursday/Friday. One is hosting one, the other is visiting someone else.

We had an adventure! Part 1

I am finally feeling a bit more like myself. I'm still having the odd pangs when I see a Daisy May photo in my archives. It really shook me for many complicated emotional reasons, betrayal, why she couldn't get along with her siblings. Knowing someone (JB's cousin) who knows her new mom helped. Everytime I pick up my laptop, I see where I had to repair the cord she liked to remove!  [A funny story about Sugru] It's a magnet, and she knew how to take it off.  The pain and grief lessen.

I just wanted to cocoon for a long time. I suggested an adventure on Friday, March 1st. A sunny day, it was lovely. I've been visiting my client twice weekly, and racking my brain to entertain her, and get her lifted up with funny self-deprecating stories. It's a tough slog some days. I've been resorting to reading the sales flyers, and talking about items on sale. We can't discuss news, for three hours, as I'm looking for uplifting topics. She knew I was troubled with Daisy May. She's been happier that I'm better. It's easy, when you're stuck in the house, to horriblize. My mom worried like this, anticipating the worst outcomes.

I bought my client this window feeder, but she doesn't have many birds now. Anyone have suggestions? This is where she sits and looks out the window. I hope that her bird situation changes in spring. Perhaps we just have to be patient. I spotted a blue jay there, once. This was prior to the snowfall.

I suggested we go to Westport for lunch. Off we went.

Cold work, outdoors!

Now, those are chains on the tires! I had JB turn around in order to grab a drive-by photo.

First stop: we headed for Narrows Lock, to check for birds.

Soon, the summer markets will open.

We've never popped in here, it's a perfect studio for an artist. Our walls are full. What can I do?!

There are many open fields, but in many places you can see the critters tracks, if you looks closely.

Yes, I have to get my camera cleaned. <sigh>

Lots of Ontario farms and barns.

Interesting decor! This photo was through the left side back passenger window. Not bad for a drive-by shooting.

Next stop: the swans at the locks!
