Crumbly Rainy Windy Acres

There was a storm July 1st. I am really glad I cut the lawn before it all happened. Funny thing is, I wrote this the day before, and we had a similar storm on Thursday.

We are grateful for all those who are helping with the results of the storm(s).  You feel so helpless.

The sunrise was deceiving.

It was terribly hot. 37℃ was its peak.

During the storm, it was horizontal rain and winds.

The Gardepro showed the shingles flying off.

I went out front and found where the shingles came from.

Ottawa had 118mm rain (4"). Here in Lanark County we only had 35 mm July 1st.  We've lost a few branches. That beautiful white pine tree out front. I found a couple of tick nymphs trying to move the branches. Just to add insult to injury.

I could see it coming...

And it hit. Lots of power outages.

Ottawa had 118 mm rain,
lots of flooding.

UPDATE: Another storm July 2nd. We had another 44 mm. Fred's lower deck burrow was flooded. I hope they weren't in there. Our power went out for a couple of hours. Joe went to Smiths Falls and fetched us some dinner. Good man.

The tree damage is significant. There are branches to clean up.

This tree's branches landed in the front yard. I got myself two ticks trying to cut branches up. Lesson learned.

The wind blew over the deer fence. Lots of the milkweed plants are leaning over.

The shed:

I went out to check Barry's Aspen trees. Not good. There were two uprooted.

A spot of colour in the chaos.

Fred's burrow

In between storms s/he looked a little wet.

Then the burrow flooded. I will be anxious to count them today.

You had a BIG storm. Maybe those Canadian tornadoes popped in a little bit. Have someone (not named Fred,) get your roof fixed. It doesn't take much to have a leak. Glad you all are okay. Linda in Kansas

I do hope the Freds are fine... what was going on this week? We had the full gale force thing happening here overnight 1st/2nd. I thought the double glazing was going to come in at one point... YAM xx

That is a lot of damage and other concerns.

Hello,
Sorry about your rood shingles. Looks like a nasty storm.
We keep missing the rain, we need more rain here.
Take care, enjoy your day! Happy weekend!

Oh, I hope the Freds are OK. That would be such a sad way to lose them. We've had bad storms here but I think you may have us beat. A contest no one wants to win. I'm sorry for all the damage. These storms are crazy this year and so unusual. i find myself checking radar every couple of hours. Please let us know on the Freds as soon as you can.

That was a very serious storm. When shingles are blown off the roof means you had a very high wind. Stay safe.

Wow! You really got hit. All we got was strong winds for about 30 minutes but no rain.

Oh no, I'm glad you are both o.k. That is a lot of damage and clean-up. My fingers are crossed for the Fred's - I bet they got to higher ground.

Wow, that was a lot. Looks like you have a lot to clean up. I'm glad you're alright though.

Ah, rats. My comment just disappeared. We are lucky here - rain, but the wind was not at its worst. And we never lost hydro. JG was shopping and decided not to wait the storm out so loaded in the downpour and arrived home still dripping. Sheesh, Fred has more sense.

...I wish that we would get some of the rain. It's in the forecast, but all we get is wind and hear thunder to the north!
