I ordered a new topper for this feeder. It's supposed to be a squirrel baffle, but it works well for the tray feeder to keep rain and snow off. The only issue is getting it hooked on properly!
The plastic hook doesn't hold well. It took me a half hour to MacGyver it! It has to hold tightly since the deer like to go after the tray feeder.
There were squirrel issues on that spring-like day. With the warm temperatures, I think they were twitterpated. I didn't see any of them after the snowy day and cold temps. And since just the one.
This is the action shot!
I counted 2 squirrels in front, went out back and counted 9! They are all Gray Squirrels (black morph).

Even the red squirrel hung around!
I have to say that the foofoerah around gold, silver or bronze just doesn't matter to me as a fan. The difference between 1, 2 or 3, in fact the top ten finishers, is so close, by mm or 1/100th of a second. I know all the participants gave it their all. I have American friends. I am happy for them. They are suffering from their president. The orange one is merciless.
At least average Americans can be happy about getting gold. I know many of them are shocked, angry, and terribly upset with what is going on in their country. I hope this gives them some joy.
I think a better way to sort the medal list is by totals. I'd totalled our top 10 finishes, which is a feat unto itself. It's all a miracle.

...our hungry squirrels can figure out a way to get around all of our baffles. They are smart little buggers!

Those squirrels bring smiles... as did much of the winter Os... YAM xx
The buys (and girls) were awesome. While I am glad that Americans could take some joy out of this, it would have been the best year to have won for Canada. (Why won’t spellcheck correct canada to Canada?)
I agree, I'm impressed and happy for all the athletes - doesn't matter what country. They have all worked so incredibly hard. I'm in awe of them. Smart to cover the bird seed, when it gets wet it all sticks together.
That is a lot of squirrels!
It looks like #75 and his wife had a bunch of squirrely kids. Yes, thanks for your understanding. We're stunned the US won the hockey games, but it is nice to have something to enjoy instead of our news. Guess the women's hockey team declined the invite to the Jerk's state of the union speech. I have to admit I often found myself rooting for Canada (did you see that Canada/US curling match? Wow!). Not always, but often! I miss the Olympics -- I don't know what to keep in the background as my white noise anymore! I'm having squirrel issues -- Bushy (or maybe Rocky Raccoon?) undid the feeder base from the thing holding up and of course now all the seed is on the ground. I suppose they can all eat anywhere....
I love the squirrels.
Your woods makes for a great squirrel residential area.
You’re absolutely right. I’m certainly not happy about what is going on in our country right now. We just returned home from Hokkaido and back to hearing about all that’s going on….. sigh…. It was good to be away.
What I love about the Olympics is the joy of an athlete who really didn't expect to win a medal and gets one. Bronze is beautiful. Sad that the Canadian hockey teams felt they 'lost' to be only silver. I do not like sudden death overtime because there is too big a luck factor, but it could have broken our way too, so I am celebrating watching top-level hockey (the women) for once.
