Saturday's Critters on Crumbly Acres

Strange weather!

Jan. 2nd

We interrupt regular programming, as I bring to you the Hairy Frog Fish!

There is little as exciting as this around here. We do enjoy our regulars. The gray squirrel launches itself from the bird bath cover.

You can see the tracks in the slushy snow.

Female cardinal

This is very unusual, a starling, having a bath. Few of the birds are bathing at this time of year. The starling, being bug eaters, should have left. All I had handy was my zoom lens on the tripod. The action was funny.

Deer friends

I missed last week's Saturday's Critters, here's my coyote howling! It is very loud, right near the camera!

Butch woke up during our melt. It was -7 C Friday. I'll bet they've konked out again.

The cats run around the house. They aren't keen on the snow. It reminds me of sending students out for recess on a really cold day. The sheer exercise of getting dressed, going out for 10 minutes, and removing snowsuits, hats, mitts, boots, gloves was a good one.

The deer are on the move. You can see where I shoveled the slush and stopped.

Hello,
Great cam images. I always love to see the deer and your cute kitties. Great captures of your feeder birds, the Cardinals are a favorite. Stay warm it's too cold out there. Thank you for linking up and sharing your post. Take care, have a great day and a happy weekend. PS, thank you for leaving me a comment.

I loved a light switch on the last cam shot...from dark into daylight. All your critters are so nice to see, and I think of all the time it takes for you to go get the cards from the cameras...then load and edit what's available! wow!

A coyote howling is quite a sound! I hear them sometimes in the woods where I hike...but not lately! Love the birds coming to eat and even bathe! Happy new year sweet friend, Diane

We're in the vortex here, too -- feels like -7 this morning, even though not so cold!

Love your critters. That is one hardy starling. I am not sure I would bathe at that temperature - and certainly not outdoors.

Pixie looked up the first time. Coyote howled but went back to her food and didn't look up the second time. A very safe little princess. Wishing you and your critters a fun week ahead my dear. Hope it's a good one Aloha

I don't see gray squirrels often. How lovely. And yes -- cats run the house.

Oddly enough, I am seeing starlings here too. They usually are gone by now.
However last week I did see Robins and Blue Birds and they were by the creek when it warmed and eating little flying bugs.
Interesting.
I've also caught a skunk on our trail cam more than once, they usually are sleeping ... I think this time of year.
Odd year.
