FIRE #1. Fire destroys cottage near Bala
Just back from visiting Muskoka, and Windsor Dr., specifically, there was a horrible cottage fire there on Tuesday, at #1046 Windsor Dr., in Bala, on Tuesday, Aug. 9th. It is my cousin's old cottage. We lived at #1066, my aunt & Uncle's cottage was two doors down, and my Uncle and Aunt's cottage at #1056. My cousin, an architect, rebuilt his home at #1056, and sold it a few years ago. He also designed the cottage that burned, at #1046, which his brother had built. Many people live full-time nearby. It could have been a terrible fire, except for the wonderful Muskoka Lakes Volunteer Firefighters. The family built a campfire, beside the cottage on Sunday, didn't extinguish it properly and the fire broke out Tuesday, when no one was there.
Fire crews have sustained and extinguish the fire by the looks of it. @DiscoverMuskoka @Muskoka411 #bala #muskoka pic.twitter.com/WuzL7upHjE— Ian McNeil (@McNeil_91) August 9, 2016
