We need to slow down, peeps

Driving at the speed of stupid! This concerns me, as we do our fair share of driving on rural roads. I like to research them to figure out how to protect myself. Today, we have freezing drizzle, on top of 6" of snow.

The roads are terrible. We are going to hunker down until the roads are cleared. They canceled JB's Meals on Wheels deliveries yesterday. Good thing.

Hubby did most of the snow yesterday, but konked out, as I did. We'll finish it today.

 In January 1996, Matt Brownlee, with more than three times the legal limit of alcohol in his bloodstream, was racing another car on Greenbank when his car crossed the centre line and rammed into an oncoming vehicle. Brian LeBreton-Holmes, 12, died at the scene. His mother, Linda LeBreton, 35, died in hospital the next evening.  Brownlee didn't stop at this: he violated parole.

Matt Brownlee, now 27, pleaded guilty to two counts of criminal negligence causing death and was sentenced in July 1997 to six years in jail. An additional year for breaching his bail conditions was added. Matt Brownlee, who had an atrocious driving record, was also seriously injured in the collision and spent 21 days in a drug-induced coma. He has permanent brain damage.

October sights and sounds

The colours are still hanging in. A little delicious morsel for those who know the white stuff is on its way. I love the changes, but the fall colours are eye candy and food for the soul. We took a trip to drop off some of our old clothes to a store selling on behalf of our women's shelter.
We have quite a few seniors in our community, who are increasingly able to keep up their mobility through some wonderful devices. Apparently, the bike lane, until the snow flies, is a good place to be.
We need to name our tree frog. I was thinking something around the Invisible Frog: IFFY. I've pruned some of the plant, put in some water in a dish, and still can't find him. He was singing on Saturday. I put the wasp trap/fruit fly trap in the plant, thinking it might get him in it. We'll see!
Daisy and Annabelle have been having some conflict, although it is lessening. I think Daisy is just plain jealous!



Daisy seems to want to be a turtle for Hallowe'en! She frequently hops up and under my WW I helmet/turtle piece. The head fell off and rusted a few years ago. Hubby took him into the ironworks shop in Bala, and the guys all gathered around to giggle at the art. They repaired turtle's neck for free, as they were so pleased to see it! Annabelle knew Daisy was there somewhere. I think she sniffed her out!

Daisy and I had another wonderful forest walkies. It's such a lovely, colourful canopy, for a little while longer. There is something about that swish of leaves that brings back the sights, smells and, mostly sounds, of fall and childhood.
