Snowy Crumbly Acres

That was a snow storm! It snowed all night. We are snowed in! No TV Satellite (horrors!), and we've some work to do to get dug out. The roads are bad. Our high today is -9℃, with it plunging to -12 today.

Grampa was gifted with these beautiful bears. Baby bear seemed tipsy! I readjusted her.

The trees are heavily laden. I'll need snowshoes to go around today. (Wait'll you see today's photos!)

🪓I took note of this the other day. It's buried under ground cover of 20 - 30 cm snow! Non-mental note, we've a tree down in the meadow. I shall have to clean it up. I plugged in the reciprocal saw battery. We need kindling, so this is good. Sort of! I did chop some kindling Monday, we're good for a time.

I made sure the feeders were filled the night before. We've tapped snow off of the feeders 3 or 4 times. I'll have to do it again today.
Junco:

We've 3 males and one female cardinal.

I finally got its read head.

Sharing: cardinal and sparrow

Tuesday there was an unusual visitor. A starling. They should have migrated. I'll keep an eye out. It seems to like the cracked corn, as do the mourning doves. I'll keep refilling that.

Barb asked about our Vancouver grandies' Panto: East Van Panto: West Van Story. It is a 'pantomime', as far as I know. Jesse doesn't have a moment to talk! There is much singing and choreography. I found a photo on FB of the whole group. I found Cluny and Bryony. Usually their Vancouver Nana posts photos, but everyone is busy.
This is the whole crew, it's on their Facebook page. The kids rotate and take turns in performances, there are 15 kids in the cast.

Cluny has the orange shirt in the middle,
Bryony is two kids to the right, pink pants.
AFAIK!!!

Last year's panto!
Bryony and Cluny ever did the promo shots for last year's show.

Joe has been busy rearranging.

Crumbly Acres didn't crumble!

What a deep freeze it has been. The skies have been interesting.

Sunset Dec. 6 from Jennifer Jilks on Vimeo.

Listen for the clacking of the ice on the trees, after which we had 6 cm of snow.

The skies were lovely as I worked on fixing the Crumbly Acres camera. The app told me that there wasn't a memory card. I knew it wasn't true, but that it was likely just frozen. The app is on my laptop, and I hauled that out in the rain.

Trying to reboot it did not help. Our came the hex screw driver, the small screwdriver, and the step ladder. Up I went.

Well, that was a relief. We melted, and it was gentle. Lots of branches have bounced back. This was the first day.

Doesn't that look better?!

Then, the front yard! Dec. 9th, then Dec. 10th it was gone.

See him in the garden?! He after another bunch of candytuft plants.

And the backyard. This branch worried us, but it lifted after the snow and ice melted.

As predicted, a snowstorm!

We had a bit of snow. There was 22 cm, with spots on the driveway that were windblown and up over 30 cm in spots.

You can see the wind blowing the snow off of the roof! It's windy. Coffee was called for, as well as an end to the snowfall.
Out I went. I didn't bother with my morning workout.  Guinevere is up to her neck in snow!

I love those crisp edges!

Poor JB had a fall on his walkabout. I threw the snow across his walking path. He had his cane and managed to get up. There was lots of snow to cushion him!

The birds are happy at the feeder. I cleaned them off and filled them. The trees are heavily laden. I did not venture down to the far trailcams, I'll need snowshoes for that. Maybe today...

I made the mistake of watching this movie after I finished and had my shower. Their plane crashes and they are stuck on the mountain, in the COLD! I had to nestle under the blanket in my cozy chair! It was a bit chilly! Filmed in Vancouver, B.C., it was beautiful.

In the meantime, it began snowing again! You'll note I dug out a path to the rain gauge. I need to do it again. Adding insult to injury!

The birds are so pretty! I got serious and put on the big zoom lens, atop the tripod. Not so bad! There was a lot of action.

The poor deer! This yearling was snow covered.
Then there is our young buck. He still has one antler! This is unusual. He should have lost it by now.

February is proving to be a snowy month!
