Goldfish in the pond

They are so happy in there, now that temperatures have evened out. They are terribly difficult for me to photograph, but I really only need to keep track of them! We lost one a month ago, so there should be seven.

They have another visitor, however. Dorah went right on by, but as I approached... She loves snakes, too. Dorah is back on her meds. She has had three incidents and is back on her happy ear creme meds.

Usually we have frogs that get into the pond, and last year we had a snake who knocked off one a day. We'll see if this one comes back.

All we've seen of Junior Bear is this, which is a good thing!

Feline walkies in the snow

What a dark morning, yet the sun rises earlier and earlier. It began with hail.

Yesterday, we had a lively day. Playing indoors, Buster began bothering his big sister, Sadie. I took them out for walkies. That ran off some energy!
They were intrigued with the spruce tree. 'Labbit' had been hiding under the tree, I spotted rabbit poo there! They scoop up seed from under the bird feeder, our rabbits. In the snow, I spotted her tracks. She came up the four steps, and onto the front porch to feed and leave us a deposit!
By the end of the day, with cold toes, Daisy perched on top of the mailbox. They the twins curled up for an afternoon nap.

Wetland walk

I love tromping through the wetland. I followed the deer's path.

It was great walking. There were a few spots where the bog was melted. The deer have laid down a great path, though.

I didn't need my snowshoes for a long part of my walk.

It's a huge area. This is what was behind me!
It was a lovely, sunny, cold day.

I took off my mitts, opened my jacket, and was quite warm.

The brown colours of the swamp are different than the summer.

The bulrushes turn an incredible green in season.
Poo galore!
visitors - has to be wolf!

coyote track?
Can you see the deer tail? Left side!
There were other visitors to the bog. Both coyote and wolf tracks, and what looked like bear scat! Doesn't look like wolf, as it doesn't have fur in it!

Deer poo are pellets, but you can see a bigger blob at the top! Granddaughter, Josephine, would be thrilled!

I scared some deer.
You can just see their tails. Seeing as the trail I followed started at our backyard, they are probably 'our' deer!

A glorious day in the swamp!

I'm glad I had the GPS. Hard to find your way.
The batteries died in the GPS, and I had to stop. Wanting to go down to the river, I had a bad blister on my heel and gave up.

The GPS told me how far I went, and how long.:

I did a 360º  video just for fun.

First snow crystals are beautiful

Snow crystals, nature's beauty.

Beautiful

The cats are non-plussed. :-)

Yes, the first snow. Birds are more frantically seeking food.
The deer graze in the grass that grows in the warm sunshine. At night, they creep in the shadows, turning on the motion floodlights, eyes glitter in the light.

Such a contradiction, yet promise, that life still continues, and nature adapts to the changing seasons.

By the frog pond, the fall crocus still blossom.
Jack Frost paints pictures on the glass.

Deer watches me from the lawn.
