🥀 Amaryllis Plan B

Joseph Brian had a bit of a fright Friday morning. He tripped in the forest, fell sideways, and hit his head on the ground. Fortunately, he was wearing a toque. I put ice on his knee, after fetching him some water. He was in shock for awhile. He is better and doesn't seem to have a concussion. (I Googled the symptoms and watched him like a hawk.) He scraped his leg, but seems no worse for wear. What a way to begin the day.

We've snow on the way, it's -7 C., maybe time to do laps at the arena...

🥀Amaryllis
I rethought my idea for the amaryllis. Brecks has a couple of cool planters, but a little pricey. One is a stand that holds them upright (below, left). Also, a little ladder with a Holiday figure to support it. About $25, for only the stake! I don't think so!

I found a great store, 'liked' by a friend on Facebook. Plant & Curio on Preston St. in Ottawa. These would do very well. However, we aren't planning on going to the city in the near future! I will keep this in mind.

This is what I went with. Having sorted through my vases, I recycled a hanging planter found in the shed. I can tie them onto the hook if they get too tall. I even found some fresh potting soil. The roots of the bulbs were beginning to rot, they don't like getting their roots that wet.

There we go. It looks a bit odd for now, but the creche scene in front helps. You are supposed to keep them in the dark until they sprout roots.
I made the creche many years ago out of cardboard cut from cereal boxes, from a design in a women's magazine. I finished it on Christmas Eve.

Jos got her flowers. I tried to figure out how to make this a video, even downloaded the app to switch it from HEIC to mp4, but I failed. Her party is Sunday afternoon. They will have fun at the movies.

UPDATE: I did it!
