What is with this cold?
From what I have noticed, miniFred is still hanging around. Last year a coyote brought a caught kit towards the house, from lot 3 to 2. I wondered. I figured out that miniFred's siblings went that way. She was a little more shy and hung out in our yard.
Since then, I have found her on the trailcam on the driveway.
And on the trailcam. They can climb trees, but her siblings may have missed the memo.

Good luck to Fred's family.
3 kits! Somehow I missed that. How cute. Love the Lady Slippers.
Nothing but rain and more rain here, but i won't complain as it has been far too dry.
The ladyslipper is breathtaking. I used to have one in my garden in Virginia, but they don't seem to grow where I am now. Other places in West Virginia, yes, but not here on my ridge.
Ah yes, the wet makes sense since they are in the fen at Purdon.
The lady slippers are so pretty...we do not have them in our area. We have rain coming in this evening. I'm sure we need it, but I would prefer for it to wait until later in the week. I do love Fred..
Unfortunately critters don't have names on them.
Oh Fred and her little kits are adorable! I really hope they all stay safe... especially with coyotes around. MiniFred sounds like the smart one of the family, choosing your yard as a safer place to hang out. Do you think that hole in the rock might be their secret hideaway?
So "leuk" to find the Lady Slippers too... like a little reward for going exploring.
Hello, Jenn
The lady slippers are a favorite of mine.
Take care, have a great day and a happy week ahead!
I wish Fred and her newest three kits well ...
All the best Jan
Your Lady Slipper is a beauty!
