Saturday's Critters

First, a surprise! I was looking out back, and there was Fred. I have to think it is miniFred, as Fred's schedule is fairly regular, disappear mid-August, return in March. Lo, these three years!

I was about to fill in the hole under the deck, and I filled the entrance to the shed burrow. Time for a rethink!

It is unusual to see the Barred Owl on the driveway, but I guess the leopard frogs were irresistible!

Butch and a pair of dark critters. Hard to say what they are! I know last week I mistakenly identified a river otter as a fisher!

This really is a fisher. Right?!

TWO BUCKS!

The coyote was here in the daytime!

I spotted bear tracks in Nov. 2011. Those huge claws!

I'll leave you with out Booboo Bear, Aug. 23 -ish!

So many critters! Our deer lose their velvet around 9/1 so most of it is now gone.

You’ve had a critter of a week.

I wouldn't know a Fisher from an Otter, having only seen Otter in zoos/aquariums. But since I love them, I might venture to say I think they are thicker rather than longer, than the ones you're talking about. Nice healthy bear and bucks.

I'll have to go with the front pics once more, as I am again parked in a low-ebb wifi spot; signal is there, just not quite up to streaming level. However, I shall be back to view them when back in full flow, for your critters bring nature right into my wheelie bedsit and make me happy! YAM xx

In some species the young stay out longer before they hibernate. Richardson ground squirrels work that way.

Wow, a bear. That would be so neat to see where I live. I love Fred.

Oh my goodness, Butch is getting kind of portly.
I love your river otters. We are supposed to have some at a park but I have never seen them.

I really must get to Cabela's next time we're in Saskatoon and buy some trail cams for our yard. I'll tell Farmbeau they're his birthday present...which I too shall enjoy.
