UPDATE: We had 14 cm snow overnight, not the ice rain they'd predicted. Tomorrow maybe ice rain. If so, there will be power outages. We'll see you on the other side of that.
Friday vs Saturday!
We found a ribbon snake out back! Joe let it go in the grass.
Nutmeg on the front sidewalk:
Butch:
I've been using my Merlin App, since it is tough IDing spring birds from only their songs. This bird, Merlin told me is a red-shouldered hawk.
Guess what? It's a blue jay imitating a hawk!
The deer are impregnated in November-ish. They give birth in April or May.

Lots of activity as befits spring - even if winter wants to continue raging! YAM xx
Butch sure looks fat and fluffy! Wow, more snow! Hope the electricity holds for you all.
The ribbon snake is tiny. Cute capture of Nutmeg.
I also love the deer and the fisher.
Thank you for linking up and sharing your critter and post. Take care, have a great day and happy weekend. PS, thank you for leaving me a comment.
We await the driveway plower.
No snow here and hardly any rain overnight. That fisher looks powerful.
Hello Jenn :) Lots of creatures in your garden. How I would love to see a deer in mine, the snake even though it's small. not so much.Cute capture of Nutmeg and the fisher. I always heard that Jays are great mimics. Enjoy your weekend, I hope the weather is kind.
All the best
Sonjia.
I'm all for the deer, but the snake may make a fast exit! Love those cats!
So many critters. I've gone hiking in Las Vegas during the cooler Spring months and still never seen this much wildlife. I did see a few scorpions and a chipmunk though.
Wonderful to see all your wildlife in photos and video. That fisher is fascinating because I don't get to see them here. I have in photos and didn't realize they were larger than raccoons. Lovely to see your deer. Always fascinated by reptiles but haven't had the chance to handle one since our son was in kindergarten and they brought a few to one of his classes. Non-venomous of course :) I haven't seen any of our white tails in a while. I hope your snow disappears quickly even though it looks beautiful. Happy weekend to you.
I do love your critters. Thank you.
You aren't missing much that's going on.
I really like the Merlin App but it is not always correct but then neither am I.
Great blog
I love all the critters you have roaming around your place. Good call on the Imerlin ID of a hawk!!
