I could hear the blue jays harassing the barred owl, again. The owl will eat the jays, so they are worried for a good reason. The jays have gathered in flocks for winter. There is safety in numbers. I don't feel sorry for the jays, though, they eat other birds, too! The blue jays killed the barred owl chick in the spring. The chick photos, below, are from the previous year (2016), when they fledged two.

Here is a selection of the barred owls, as I didn't get any closer the other day for the video!

It wasn't at all cooperative, eh?
Beautiful pictures, Jenn.
It is a bird eat bird kind of world.
Survival can be cruel at times. Here, at 5 a.m. gale winds, massive rain, no trees will be felled today.XXX to you both.

Magnificent beast... YAM xx
"There's safety in numbers" - I like that sentence.
Those jays make quite a lot of noise when they want to. Beautiful owl shots!
Jays , crows and magpies join together and harass owls.
The Barred owls are simply beautiful - great pictures. A Cooper's hawk has been dining here lately...
Beautiful owl and terrific pictures.-- I hadn't realized how fearless and mean they were though until one attacked and injured a bald eagle near us in Florida!!
What a beautiful owl, I love your photo's.
All the best Jan
I would love to find and owl. I do hear a Great Horned Owl at night, but that's about it. Guess without trails to walk it won't happen. - Margy
