I did some research to figure out what these are. Huge solar panels, obviously. Here we are: Site 7 Beckwith Solar Farm (10MW)
A solar farm is proposed which will collect the energy from the sun using crystalline photovoltaic modules and convert it to electrical energy for distribution to the local electricity distribution system. The solar farm has a name plate capacity of 10 MW of electricity. The solar farm is designated as a “class 3” solar facility as defined by Section 4 of O. Reg. 359/09 regarding Renewable Energy Approvals. A class 3 solar facility is a renewable energy facility with a name plate power capacity greater than 10kW situated at any location other than being mounted on the roof or wall of a building. Solar PV modules consume no fuel and create no atmospheric emissions, ground vibrations or water pollution in the generation of electricity.
The solar farm is mounted on steel supports and arrayed in long WE rows. Each array is connected to a small shelter that houses electric current conversion equipment and switches. The electric power from the converter shelters is run via underground or surface cable to electric utility interconnect equipment at the edge of the arrays, and from that to the electricity distribution line (i.e. grid).
There is a pond in front, and someone was up above welding. Someone else was in a lawn chair supervising! The project promised to use local contractors, and this must apply to maintenance, as well.
They are on Kidd R., in Beckwith. The company, Mann Engineering, has many across southern Ontario. This one you can see from satellites!
