Another storm!

They predicted it... This is the 🎥Texas low that caused high winds, and 🌪tornados (CNN).

I woke up early. In the dark, the snowplough went by, as registered on the Crumbly Acres security camera. A sight for sore eyes!

And the snow fell from just before midnight to the afternoon:

The turkey had a good try to get to the feeder! We've just the one male hanging around after seeing none for months.

Then the deer folk had it in their heads to find some bird seed.

Look at little fuzzy fawn! The snow is so deep for it.

I was easing into the plan of shovelling, maybe thinking I'd wait until the snow stopped. It was going to be above zero, and that makes the snow heavier.

We had some Amazon deliveries arriving. JB checked his email and it said Sunday or Monday. I put my feet up and played my morning games. JB checked again, after lunch, there was  package on the way. Out I hustled. There was 20 cm on the driveway (7"), with 30 cm (12") at the end of the driveway. Praise be for the snowblower! The highway looked great, though.

It was quite deep at the end of the driveway, 30 cm (12") deep.

Before, after the storm, and after shovelling!

JL used the roof rake to clear the snow off of their metal roof. This is their backyard!

I could have simply shovelled the back deck. Instead, I figured I might as well use the snowball snow for a purpose instead of just firing it overboard. I made a snow elf.

I was weary afterwards. The shower was just lovely!

⛄ Winter carries on...

I did enjoy bird watching from the front window, again, but the thermometer told me I should get out. I managed to avoid the urge until the afternoon. Cold in the morning, it warmed up. I thought about making a snowman, it was that kind of snow, but I have photos of the old snowpeople!

This morning it is -4 C., and it is hovering there. I have to put the garbage out by 8 a.m., I shall bundle up.

I was curious about Richard Deer's wound. It seems pretty good. I used the zoom and the tripod to get a better photo.

You can see where the antlers used to be attached. I haven't a hope of finding them. I am sure they are not on our property. They shelter deep in the wetland.

Look at the doe on the right (below), those legs are so strong. She is clearing out snow to uncover the small amount of food beneath.

The colour of their coats is so pretty.

I tried to convince Cinnamon to come walkies, but he was reluctant. No wonder. I began without snowshoes, and fell twice. You sink in the snow, at temperatures above zero. I went back for them. I noticed, after my walk, that the dead leaves, oak and maple – finally flying in the wind. They land in the footsteps from the deer who follow my snowshoe path.

It's fun watching the deer.

After I took out the garbage, Jan. 30th, they were there to greet me. One was having a rest. I talk to them.

Isabelle's Elf

It all began with this little elf cedar plant in December. I was supposed to water it until freeze-up, which I did. It turned brown, so I brought it indoors and took off its hat.

The girls were here, and Isabelle made a snowman snowperson. I added the hat and mitts from the elf. Isabelle added cedar cone buttons.

I added the wine bottle, Jos the bucket, Feb. 25.

Feb. 27 – We are having ice pellets, no, light snow, no, heavy snow at 10:30 a.m. It was -5 this am., by 10:00 p.m. it was -1 C.
Feb. 28th we had rain in the afternoon. It's wasn't so bad, though, as we sat on the front deck in the sunshine. It was 10 C. by the time the rain began.
Mar. 1 – poor elf. She's lost her head.
March 1st she lost one arm.

In the morning there was ice on the sidewalk. It melted during the day. No video, but I'm sure you can imagine the cats as they got their paws wet, and shook them off from the water.

That was a swing in temperatures. By the afternoon, we were up to 5 C., after the sun came out and before sunset the back thermometer read 10 C. Today, we've a snow squall watch!

What a change in temperatures.

Snomageddon in Newfoundland!

We didn't have snomageddon over the past few days, for comparison see the video below from Newfoundland (76 cm).

I did realize, after a few cm of snow, alternating with splatty rain, that this is an opportunity for a good workout. How's that for a glass half-full attitude?! Rain, snow, sleet and ice pellets, all on one day!

Today's workout brought to you by precipitation...

It is so warm, the bird seed is starting to sprout.

I began Sunday doing the sidewalk. It was snowball snow. It was heavy shoveling, so I changed my plan. I made a ball and rolled the snow along the sidewalk.

This is an amazing summary of the people of Newfoundland. An amazing sense of humour, Mark Critch is a hoot.

Meanwhile, in the US of A, they laugh for different reasons.
