New goldfish in the refurbished pond!

I spontaneously decided to buy a few more goldfish. Off to Big Al's!
I usually turn off the fountain while I feed them.

We lost quite a few goldfish in the winter. I've deepened the pond and I hope that will help. We had 2 dozen overwinter the previous year. We had about a dozen to add from the indoor winter tank. I had feline helpers putting the new fish into the pond.

There are many species of goldfish. Shirley I, the first, was supposedly a Shubunkin. I'm not convinced! She has bred well with the others. We were given 5 goldfish rescued from a ditch. Truly amazing, since they eat their eggs! It's hard to determine species. You can buy the cheap 'feeder goldfish', but I wanted to add some good genes into the pool. Our new three are large Sarasa Comet, from China. They grow to the size of their containers.

Refurbished goldfish pond!

Here is Shirley IV and a buddy inside in the winter fish tank. They are terribly difficult to photograph outdoors. They are very happy swimming along like little sharks, their fins up out of the water!

After the deed was done we feed them.

Big trip into the city and we came home with three new goldfish.
