Ecosia, Twitter and PRIDE month

I've switched search engines to EcosiaGoogle has about 6 months until the Canadian government cuts off new items without  remuneration to Meta and Twitter. Australia did a fine job negotiating. You'd think, with these tech giants, and their billions of dollars of profit, that the billionaires would support journalism and journalists.

What can Canada learn from Australia's bid to make big tech pay for news?

Canadian lawmakers are locked in a dispute with internet technology companies over a law that would compel them to pay news publishers for content, years after a similar regulatory saga played out in Australia.

Musk was limiting traffic on Twitter. I cruise it looking for what is happening around us.

In the meantime, they are pointing out some issues, if you read the fine print.

"The real agenda is to erase the LGBTQ community from visibility. Because queerness and visibility makes them uncomfortable. " – @QueerGrandad
That is the end of PRIDE MONTH! It really is amazing how threatened and fearful some (theoretically) straight people get. In fact, 8 people were arrested in Alberta for child exploitation and child pornography. Not an LGBT or drag queen in the bunch. This I learned on Twitter.

June wasn't very wet. July has begun.
Gramma Camp begins today. We'll see what the weather brings.

The cats have been happy in the air conditioning! It has been hot and humid.

Crumbly Acres

The fireflies are still out and about. They are wonderful to see in the dark. Here is one in the daytime.

My new Pride flag has arrived, as well as the pronoun buttons. I'm sending them to Ottawa as there is a school friend who uses THEY/THEM.  This is why I am practicing using they/them for Fred. It is good practice if you want to live in the present era.

You can see the trailcamera, and Fred is directly behind the table. I paused my workout to watch them.

That was the last time the trailcamera worked. I'll have to think of something else. OK, it was the second last time, but I thought I'd show off JB's shiny new shoes!

I remember being in my 9th month of pregnancy, and just feeling like a whale. Jesse was 10.5 lbs. when he was born. Fred is so ready to be unpregant! I understand how they feel.

I've been spending many an hour on the back deck. With the solstice, my legs were in the sun and I didn't think about it. I managed to give myself a sunburn for the first time in years. How dumb was that?!

Under the deck, the phoebe nest has 4 eggs.

Doing a walkabout, I found a red-eyed vireo nest on the ground. They have been all around.

πŸ•·While the deerflies have begun, the mosquitos, blackflies and the deerflies aren't visiting me while I sit and stare at the wildlife. I managed to bring in a tick, it was a nymph and embedded in my hand. It was removed and dumped in the tick jar with rubbing alcohol. Serves me right for wandering.

The serviceberries:

June 20, eating the serviceberries! This is from the deck, through the glass. I was afraid to move and scare them off. They are frequent visitors.

Yesterday, the robins joined them. More on that tomorrow!

June is Pride Month

Conspirituality = conspiracy theories

When we know better –we do better. Some of us. Some use click bait, and use confirmation bias to mine conspiracy theories. This is why we need diverse sources and a means to identify unreliable sources. This is a new book on the market:
Conspirituality takes a deep dive into the troubling phenomenon of influencers who have curdled New Age spirituality and wellness with the politics of paranoia—peddling vaccine misinformation, tales of child trafficking, and wild conspiracy theories. ... Google Books

🌈 I watched an interview with someone who is part of Stand In Pride. These are people who will stand in during Gay marriages, for *nearlyweds who are alienated from their parents who do not accept their choices. There is a Canadian Facebook group for them, as well.

:  I think it is brilliant!

*Gender neutral terms for non-binary or LGBTQ weddings include marriers, celebrants, nearlyweds. Bachlorx, best person, person of honour, attendants, are some other handy terms.

There was an incident, in Kelowna, B.C., east of Vancouver. Thankfully, we can learn from it. This grandfather, Tesar, accused a pair of girls (gr. 4, age 9) for being boys or trans kids. Such ignorance. Prior to puberty, kids are pretty equal. They said the man's wife then started calling her (the parent) "a genital mutilator, a groomer, and a pedophile."

We of the older generation must do our best to learn about young people and society today. We cannot 'judge a book by its cover.' Those accusing people of being groomers, are hurting innocent children. The poor 9-year-old was distraught. You cannot convince someone to be gay. Let's worry more about actual predators.

Alright, back to nature. Tuesday afternoon I visited my client. We watched the Trump indictment. It was entertaining for both of us!
