It is peculiar how one thing leads to another. I was installing a new piece of lexan in the door for the winter. It usually has a screen. I am most awed by people without screens on their doors. We've way too many bugs for that! In summer I took off the old plexiglass. It had cracked, and it was a mess.
Joseph had picked up the replacement piece for me Friday. I'd dropped it off Thursday on my way to my client's home. JB had 8 stops on Friday, for errands. What a helpmate! I was so anxious, I ran out in my slippers to fetch the piece. It has two pieces of white plastic on it for protection until it is installed.
Lexan plastic is a polycarbonate material that can be used for a variety of things. A lexan sheet has a higher impact resistance than plexiglass but scratches more easily.
The screen is lovely in summer, when it is warmer out than in, but that is not the case now. The cats like to sit in the sunshine on warm winter days, and bird and chipmunk watch.

Saturday, after we watched the Remembrance Day Ceremony, I thought I'd install the new plexiglass. My able assistant held it in place while I screwed around. I had to predrill holes in the plexiglass, switch drill bits, and then put the bracket on and screw in the nails. I realized that I didn't have enough brackets or screws. I think I used them on other projects.
Joseph went into Smiths Falls for errands and I made him a list, including how many I wanted, and a diagram of said items. Sadly, I totally misjudged how many screws I needed, or I wasn't quite accurate.
