Arnprior
My client admired a dress I wore one hot summer day, from Sue's Stitchery. A lovely summer dress, with smocking. Cool and comfy. I asked which colours she would like: lilac, pink, blue. I told my client I would look for one for her.I made arrangements to see Sue at the regular Arnprior market. It is over 80 km, and it takes an hour to get there. It's a lovely drive across SE Ontario. We went to the tennis tournie on Saturday (when Sue was at the Constance Bay market).
Summer markets are much fun.
I also bought a lovely, warm fall/spring coat from Sue. The dresses are fun, for toodling around the garden. They have lovely pockets.
The trip there was pretty straightforward, once hubby absorbed the fact that we were going to Arnprior not Almonte!
It's a lovely town, incorporated in 1862.
In 1823, a 1,200-acre (490 ha) surveyed block was ceded to Archibald McNab. The current population is 8,795.[2] The town is a namesake of Arnprior, Scotland, and is known for lumber, hydro power generation, aerospace, farming and its proximity to the National Capital Region (Ottawa).

I love the museum at the end of the street, the former Post Office.
Two: one for my client (she would repay me), and another as a gift for her birthday (August)! I think she likes the brighter one best, although her daughter said, "You'll be seen far away in that one!" (Her kids are always giving her advice! It's ironic and she simply rolls her eyes.) They will get it hemmed and she'll be ready for those hot days in her farmhouse, where she has lived for 75 years.

I took this photo to remind me of a shop: it was a second hand shop. "Prior Things!" (Many folks call the town The 'Prior.)
From there, we went to East Side Marios for lunch and enjoyed the view.

While we ate, they lowered the height of the dam, to increase the water flow.
Then, someone came with binoculars to check it.
It's pretty warm in the sun, on the patio, but JB is always cold! The mighty Madawaska River!
Below, the motel where we stayed while picking out a house. We ended up living in Lanark County, but it was fun looking at different homes.
Back on the road. Farmers are pulling off the hay.
We definitely dipsy-doodled. The second screen capture shows where we back tracked along on Tatlock Rd.
We didn't exactly drive in a straight forward manner! I managed to get us onto a 'not maintained by the county' road! It was pretty rough. When an ATV passes you...
It was pretty remote. There were 7 deerflies hanging onto the mirror. Can you see them? I dared not open the window again. We closed the windows and turned on the air conditioner.
I suspect this is a hydro access road.
I'm not sure what this guy was doing. He didn't have a shirt on, and the deerflies would carry you away! His truck was covered in mud. (This is out the dusty rear window.)
Top speed, then it straightened out!
We were happy to get back onto the highway and go home. Mission accomplished.
