George Conway's take on tarriffs

This is for Joseph Brian to read, and so we can discuss it. Sometimes I post things just for him! Feel free to watch or read the synopsis.

Our Prime Minister Carney is getting all sorts of questions on what is going on between our two governments. In an article, he is quoted as saying,

Carney told Quebec’s TVA that Trump has made clear in private that, “in effect,” he wants Canada to have a “relationship of dependence on the United States, and I don’t accept that.”

This is a circular, but sound take on Canada/US relations. Conway has been watching what our Prime Minister is doing!

If you have a half hour...

19,299 views 17 Dec 2025 #Trump #Canada #TradeWar Trump declared victory over Canada, imposed tariffs, and his base cheered. The headlines declared American strength. The theatrics dominated news cycles. And everyone thought they witnessed Trump winning another confrontation. But while Trump was celebrating his apparent triumph, Canada was executing one of the most sophisticated strategic victories in modern economic history—and Trump NEVER EVEN REALIZED he was being comprehensively outmaneuvered.

🔥 THE BRUTAL TRUTH: Trump played a short-term theatrical game for headlines and applause. Canada played a long-term strategic game for actual economic power. While Trump celebrated "winning," Canada was:
  •  Diversifying trade to eliminate American leverage
  • Building domestic industries to replace American imports
  • Attracting international investment from partners seeking stability
  • Positioning as the reliable North American alternative to American chaos

I love Canada. You guys have been great in fighting back in a very tangible way. Well done!

That nailed it. Trump is all about headlines and self adulation, nothing in him considers the long term.

Certainly, this is what our Liberal government is saying it is doing. I guess my hope is that when you have an intelligent and proven leader in the driver's seat, things will actually happen. As described. I do not think we can actually distance ourselves from the States far enough to make a real difference; logically, you trade close to your recipient and that is straight south. But, maybe Carney is clever and slippery enough to keep us afloat until the USA does something about the idiot in charge. Quite a contrast in ability and style, if nothing else. How anyone can believe that man about anything is just plain incredible. But they do.

Our governments are not helping the normal people at all.

We're going the right direction and have to keep doing the same.

I do the same with my husband. We have a political discussion every night. Fortunately, we're both aligned more or less. As I am relatively new to politics and he has lived here his whole life, he gives me great information.
