Saturday's Critters

The back deck has been the safest place to be for me! The bugs don't like the overhang. It's the coolest, in the shade. That said, I do have to garden and visit trailcams.

Meteorologist Johanna Wagstaffe said on CBC's The National ticks are  'crawling bags of pathogens.

There was one turkey just sitting there in the grass! It didn't want its picture taken and took off. I'd be happier with a flock. They eat ticks!

In the pine tree, the vireo nest is popping. This is one I found in winter, just to show you the size.

Red-eyed Vireo watches from a nearby tree.

Cinnamon loves this spot. It has been so hot, the air conditioner was on, but 'if I fits, I sits!'

After I reported the June 26th encounter with the fox (on yesterday's post), Fred and one Fredlet popped out of the woods after two days. Either the third miniFred has found a new burrow, or fox got him. She had 4 kits, and this one seems inclined to cling to Momma.

I had fun bear watching!

I think there are two! A young one and a mature one.

Hello Jenn,
I love the Cinnamon photos and the bear videos are cool.
Sweet baby birds! Thank you for linking up and sharing your critter post. Take care, have a great weekend. PS, thank you for leaving me a comment.

What a nice surprise, to hear little bear huff, and then maybe one huff from big guy. Fred and little one are still there, thankfully!

Those bears are cute, but I don't think they're Care Bears. Linda in Kansas

Good luck to all the prey, but the predators have “rights” too! It’s hard to see both sides of this nature thing!

Fingers crossed for the Fredlets.

The bears really impress me....I am fascinated with Bears. I do hope the little kit found a new place rather than the fox getting it. Ticks and deer flies..sounds like shelter is needed a good bit for you all. I do enjoy your trail cams Jenn...

Bears! I enjoyed those videos. Cinnamon isn't the least bit intimidated by the Tiger on the couch, haha.

No ticks for me this summer so far, thank goodness. I hate them things. I have a few friends who have developed serious illnesses from them which have lifetime effects. I do my woodsy geocaching in the late fall and winter.

Fascinating to see those bear videos, and I hope mini Fred found a new burrow. Cinnamon looks very comfortable with his companion. An amazing gift of nature to see those wee birds, and I hope you get a lot more turkeys to visit. Ticks being described as a 'crawling bags of pathogens' just about sums it up. Happy July to you Jenn :)

I'm hoping the Fredlets all make it. Doesn't sound encouraging though. Cinnamon knows how to find the best seat!

Love the baby birds. Hopefully Fred and Baby Fred are fine for a while.

Love your critters. The Fredette staying close to mama has the right idea.

What are you going to do someday when you come around the corner of the house and Mr Bear is right there?

Very busy place with all those creatures about! Love the pics of the bears. But I'm glad there are no bears in my back yerd.

I must get my critter photos up. But, meanwhile, yours are a lot of fun and very nicely done. We used to have a trail camera trained on the deer feeding station and I swear they would put their rumps up to it on purpose. Well, anthropomorphism, but I did have a lot of butts.
