☔ JUNE 2025

 2025

For annual ❄️ WEATHER DATA  <= over the years.

They predicted we'd get 30 - 50mm rain the other day. What did we get? Only 0.89 mm (0.035"). The next day, June 28th, that was a storm.

Predicting extreme weather systems is fairly important. Still, NOAA has cut 10% of its workforce and has  limited satellite access to the DoD (both navy and air force) data. "Hundreds of weather forecasters fired in U.S. federal cuts"

Hurricane Fiona information came from the NOAA satellites. It saves lives. It helps give warnings.

For us, on well and septic, totally dependent upon electricity, we need the warnings. Candles, flashlights, potable water... many of you know the drill.

June 26 or 27th, they warned of 30 - 50mm rain. We had ONE mm!

June 24 more storms

That was a heckuva storm. We were asleep at this point.

Others didn't quite make it through the storm unscathed.Despite evacuations from campsites, there were three incidents I heard of where campers had trees blown on tents or trailers. Thank goodness for emergency responders. There was one death, another where a camper van was struck by trees and the man had his leg broken:

a third remote rescue where

Lightning strikes were numerous.

We missed the rain again. I am glad I watered.

Fires out west: Australia is helping out.

Australia is sending crews

June 3
The fires continue out west. Vast hectares of burning trees and homes and infrastructure. We're getting smoke from it. I feel so badly for all impacted, evacuated by helicopters, planes, from remote areas.

  1. Hi Jenn, caught up on your posts now. I can ditto most things here. The heat was awful, wasn’t it. And now so much cooler again. But everything in the garden is growing and birds and hummers are humming. Still something hanging over our heads as the numbers continue to rise here in On. Do you have many trilliums on your property? Glad you two are walking.
