🥶 There were storm warnings... but it was the cold that preceded it! Saturday, -29 ℃, I kept a fire going to supplement our propane. This morning, a balmy -23℃. It is a huge storm, with lightning. It should roll in this afternoon. We are ready.
We always say, on days like this, 'It's a good day to be retired!' Joe Brian spent years dealing with issues like this. Something like 1400 flights cancelled.
Even more amazing, Aster being up early, during this exam period, on a Saturday morning. The family had breakfast together, although they won't see much of him! The schedule is packed.

Just when I get it all cleaned up...
It is a time for throwing veggies and chicken in a hot oven! I cubed sweet potatoes, added broccoli, and what I thought was canned pineapple. (It was crushed, oh well!) The chicken was wrapped in bacon. I threw it together, threw it in the oven, and put my feet up watching a new show: Newton's Law. A fun mystery, lawyer legal series from Australia.
Maybe 6" stride.

A cat got it, I think. Sept. 22, 2022:It took the cardinal eggs one year, 2020. Also, the wood duck eggs in 2020. Circle of life...

It may be frigid outside but inside with those two cats so cozy together, it is warm indeed. I always love seeing your tracks. And that deer is pretty cute. I need to throw out something, anything, for the birds. I don't have seed -- hopefully will get some this week. I bet they are starving in all this. Keep cozy!

ReplyDeleteWe are fortunate with heating and electricity although we do pay dearly for them.
ReplyDeleteI'm with the cats. Not looking forward to the snow today.
ReplyDeleteCute comfy kitties. Linda in Kansas
ReplyDeleteHow long is your driveway, Jenn? It looks like quite a job.
ReplyDeleteWe have weasels here too, but have only seen them twice. Once a young one was trapped on top of a tall post by our dog. We dragged the dog away and let the weasel go. Then last year, apparently our dogs killed one, which the cat then dragged to our front steps. Poor thing, I know weasels can be a nuisance but they are so beautiful.
I hope you won’t hold it against me that I live in the most vile country in the world, thanks to the creep who is our elected leader. The news is so consistently horrible! Anyway we are all under the same Polar Vortex now!
ReplyDeleteGlad you’ve got sun warmth for kitties! Keep warm y’all! We’ve got ice and rain and sleet and ice and so far electricity! Thank heavens!
ReplyDeleteOur propane froze up yesterday! We had a few cold hours but it's sort of running again. Our heating contractor has to bring us a new valve of some sort the first of the week.
ReplyDeleteLooks like heavy snow is widespread, just saw our US correspondent talking, -3, and snowing as he gave the report on the latest shooting. So thankful that you are safe. Wet and cold down here, summer didn't arrive and has gone somewhere else !!!We had maybe one day of good hot weather.
ReplyDeleteoh, the two kitties laying in the sun is so cute! Your dinner looks delicious, I bet it smelled amazing.
ReplyDeleteStay warm and safe 🙏 We just started getting the snow and blowing snow here in Montreal a few hours ago. Before that, our temperatures were -35 Celsius.
