Walkies for Gramma and Grampa!
The tower looks out to the butterfly field. They've created a wonderful habitat for them.
Grampa all kitted up.
It is a beautiful spot, with an abundance of local plant species that provide habitat for critters. Thistle, milkweed, and a balance of meadows and forest.
Since we were wondering about bugs and heat, I thought we could take the easier path. A few minutes in, I realized we ought to put on bug spray. In the shade, the mosquitoes are bad. In the edges of the forest, the deerflies. I sprayed Joe's cap, and put on my big hat with the sticky paper.
All told, I only had 2 deerflies. Several mosquito bites, where I didn't spray!
Isn't it lovely?
We crept forward, and the hare didn't stir. Our path veered left, and it was left to eat.
Our goal was to make it to the lookout over the creek! Stay tuned for part 2!
Ahhhh! Did you make it to the lookout?
ReplyDeleteI haven't been making many hikes into the woods lately, but I did hear that one of my favorite places to hike was quite buggy this summer.
How nice Mr. Bunny greeting you all on your excursion. Sorry about the bugs!
ReplyDeleteA nice walk and pretty scenes and photos.
ReplyDeleteTake care, have a wonderful week!
What a lovely spot to visit! It really is very beautiful there. Looking forward to more!
ReplyDeleteIt's August. The mosquitoes should soon lessen I would think.
ReplyDeleteI love the last 2 photos of the grassy paths. I hope the mosquito bites aren't too bad.

ReplyDeleteThat looks lush and wonderful... paradise with the imperfection of those bities! YAM xx
The bugs would discourage me. You 2 are brave.
ReplyDeleteI love the path and all the greenery around it.
ReplyDeleteLovely views (shame about the bugs).
ReplyDeleteAll the best Jan
Nice hike!
ReplyDeletetwo deerflies and a few mosquitoes is not bad. Try the Arctic or Makenzie delta. Mosquitoes will never bother you again.
ReplyDeleteA great ride out! What a clever idea the sticky on the hat is. I'll have to remember that. Wonderful surroundings!
