Who goes there?

The garden confounds me. The lawns are a mess. I keep picking up tick nymphs on myself. The lawn tractor has gone for repairs. I cannot start it. This is where they hide, in the grass. It is perfect for the ticks.

You can see the ticks on the doe's legs, back and front.

Yucca plant is throwing up a flower stalk.

The Weigela is dropping blossoms. The Hops vine carries on up!

Can you see the White Admiral butterfly? I usually take a photo when I spot it, then try to move closer. Such cooperation this time!

I am having a fun time with a certain spider! It is quite clever, as the moths turn on the light as they flit by. It is a perfect place for a web.

If you watch it, you'll see a little moth land in the web in the upper right. Spidey is quick to finish it off!

I don't know if the videos show bats or moths. We have both. Consensus from other camera owners is difficult, Bat or Imperial Moth. Someone suggested a flying squirrel, but they truly glide, and don't fly upwards. The photo is from June, 2012. I suspect this is what we see in the dark. They are huge!

This is our big bear, May 31. Out in the daytime. We didn't see him anywhere the house, thankfully. At least not this day!

  2. Great to keep an eye out for ticks. Do you have any Lyme disease in that area? Sorry mower needs repair, and with the height of that grass, it might take more than a mower! Big bear there!

  3. He is huge, too close for me to feel safe maybe. The tractor, is it time to get a brand new one or can this be repaired so it starts every time? Your lawn and everything else looks very lush and green, growing season has truly arrived.

  6. Always excitement at your place. Ticks are wicked, aren't they 😢 The butterflies and moths are so pretty. I'm not sure I'd ever get used to bears. They are striking animals. At a distance...
