Finally, after 10 years here, they put up a sign. I have been asking them for years [Roadkill - slow down]. It took a massive incident at 3:30 a.m., and lives changed forever, but we have signage. We are in the middle of a habitat, and they cross the road to go back and forth.
The two young men who were passengers are still in hospital.
This is where drivers get set to pass, as well as it being an animal crossing. We've had much roadkill here, as well as deer: porcupines, raccoons, rabbits, 3 of our black cats, plus Hooper, a turkey chick (LOOK FOR THE HELPERS! right while JB and a neighbour were watching), barred owl, Fred gopher, a beaver, snakes and turtles.
Do you think it'll do any good?
...it seems that everyone is in a big hurry.
ReplyDeleteIt may do some good, but I don't know how much.
ReplyDeleteHello,
ReplyDeleteI hope the sign helps. People should slow down, they are driving too fast. Take care! Have a happy new week!
Congrats on the sign! Hopefully, no more accidents in your area.
ReplyDeleteProbably won't make much of a difference but there is always hope!
ReplyDeleteI hope the sign helps
ReplyDeleteIt seems such a terrible waste of wildlife lives .. and human suffering ... but sadly it is the humans that cause it all and seldom seem to learn from it.
ReplyDeleteI really hope the sign helps .. but human nature is always unpredictable when it comes to speeding and reckless behavior .. I'm so sorry for the animal losses .. that is sad.
One incident like that and the involved driver will be more vigilant. Others? Who knows.
ReplyDeleteHopefully it helps.
ReplyDeleteMaybe it will help, it is a good thing to have that sign.
ReplyDeleteWe too have a sign; however,
ReplyDeleteevery year people hit deer, etc.
One of my traffic control friends
told me of stopping a car going
120 on part of the 80 kph section
of the road. There are also
semi trucks with2 trailers
doing more than the speed limit
on our road.
Sigh!
Very sad. The powers that be need to be educated.
