In the meantime, the skunk has been digging up grubs. This is from last year, but you can see its style!

The osprey and the blue heron are back, a little early, methinks. The rivers are melted, but the lakes, which thaw from the shorelines out, are quite frozen. There are many ponds which freeze and thaw in the warmth of the sunshine.
We took a drive, to Westport, and down Long Lake Rd. Another grouse crossing the road.
No sign of the beaver near the beaver dam. It's nice to see the open water.
The deer are eating the dead grass!
The meadow was really wet. It freezes overnight.
We continue to have Butch raccoon amble by. Sadly, our pair of rabbits are down to one. Poor hubby found one dead on the highway. It's so sad. We do have lots of wildlife.

ReplyDeleteLove the heron head shot and seeing him perched on his nest. We are having sleet this morning, but it will warm up to near 50 degrees, so don't expect it to last. Love your winter scenes. Happy Weekend!

ReplyDeleteI love the skunk video ... before I retired, I used to run in the morning, and my route used to cross an area frequented by a skunk. I think we surprised each other the first time we 'met'!
