We had new shingles put on the roof the year after we moved in, in 2011. I'd lost some photos, but Google stored them somewhere when I searched.
When I was up cleaning out the gutters in May, I spotted this issue. You can see the nail holes as Jean-Luc, my SIL, pointed out. I asked if I should work from the top to the bottom to repair them.
They had a window of time, and they offered to come and fix them. It's been crazy busy for them. I was profoundly grateful.
We had a nice visit. They brought leftovers for lunch, and they ate a bite while we chatted. They had to get home to pick Aster up from their penultimate Driver's Ed in class session. Soon it'll be two-hour lessons in the instructor's car. It is hard to believe this little kid is growing up so fast. When Aster needs a drive to school, they will drive. Great practice!
Joe Brian had brought some scones, which we sent home. Aster had one for breakfast with tea, and sent a thank you! Isn't that sweet?!

Speaking of roofs, we are having to guy over today (hopefully) to give us the bad news.

ReplyDeleteI am so glad you have good younger ones to be doing repairs like that... I shuddered for a moment as I thought of you going up there yourself! Family is fab... YAM xx
I am SO glad it wasn't you on that roof. I was getting worried and relieved to see you holding the ladder. It's hard to believe Aster is so grown up. I remember your photos from long ago and she was just a kid. Still is, I suppose, but what a lovely one.
ReplyDeleteHappy month of June to you! Good job on repairing the roof. You had some excellent helpers!
ReplyDeleteThere always is something that needs work. The joys of home ownership!
ReplyDeleteI'm so glad they came to help, we should probably stay off the roof now. Your grands are so sweet!
ReplyDeleteGreat to have family do repairs specially when it is the roof
ReplyDeleteA new week and a new month! Where did May go???
ReplyDeleteWell done all on repairing the roof.
All the best Jan
Shingles and roofing are a pain. They're important so you can't ignore them.
ReplyDeleteWe think of our roof as the “ new roof” but it’s at least ten years old now. So far no problems, thank goodness. We had the eaves troughs and downspouts all replaced about four years ago with a wider, screened version and that has worked really well.
ReplyDeleteThat is excellent...especially help that brings food!
