It's a winter wonderland!

I cannot resist talking about the day for Americans. It impacts the rest of the world. Nothing surprises any of us any more. What I find amazing is that all this money is going to him. As Joe pointed out, he's not a young man, he won't be able to live long enough to spend all this money!

Most ticketed guests cannot attend, since it is moved indoors. What a sign of things to come. Chaos from the beginning.

My Muskoka friend, Nancy, wrote "To be clear SpaceX didn't blow up... it was a "rapid unscheduled disassembly."  Sort of like American democracy."

My Vancouver grandies went to a ski race on the weekend! Both girls take cross country ski lessons.

It is in a beautiful setting, Whistler.

Jesse's phone takes amazing images, when he remembers to upload them! 😆 Cluny and Bryony are growing so fast!

Here, in Ontario, Jo is preparing for gr. 12 exams.
Aster is working on the notebook kit I gave her.

Caitlin and Aster went downtown, out to dinner and then the NAC.

Momma daughter adventures.

Lord of the Rings with a live orchestra and choir.

Here at home it was curling, football, and tennis in the basement. I made him a fire, and the cats enjoyed that. I watched some thrillers upstairs.
Dinner was a one-pan meal. I threw in rice, canned tomato, onion, peppers, green beans, spices, water, two pork chops, and hoped for the best. Chopping a butternut squash into chunks, I sliced my finger in the process. Well, leftovers!

Monday it is garbage day. It is so cold! It's -17℃. I decided to drive the garbage and recycling the 100m to the highway! I was punished for it, as the trunk door hit me on the head.

My friend, Erica, gave me permission to post these photos of her recent Lake Effect Snowfall from Muskoka! It is amazing. People have to shovel a path for the pets, to get to their cars. It is a slow process.
You just have to dress for it, take lots of breaks, and stay hydrated!

  1. You're -18 and we're 18. We don't really have winter sports here. I loved watching curling during the Olympics. And cross country skiing sounds like a great thing for youngsters to do. I love the snow, but if I had to shovel it I'm sure I would have a different opinion! I hope you have a good week, stay warm!

  3. A bitter cold start to the bitter politics that we expect. I celebrate Dr. M.L. King's holiday today instead of the show by the orange one. Wonderful pics of your grands! Take care of that finger, you need it!

  4. The picture of your grandkids cross country skiing is so good, how fun! Butternuts are always tricky to cut into. I can't imagine shoveling all that snow, what a workout!

  6. A big wow on that snow - and the v happy grandies. I couldn't watch the inauguration. I shudder for the years to come.

  7. I refuse to watch. (I'll probably watch something tonight, maybe a bit. Or, maybe not.) I feel like I'm seeing my country disintegrate before my eyes. I know it's controversial but 'm glad Biden pre-emptively pardoned some people like Dr. Fauci and the Jan. 6 people. Maybe not a great precedent but under the circumstances, good, I think.

  8. I enjoyed watching the beginning of a new era here in American Politics! It was a great ceremony full of hope and prayers! I hope for the best and better economic changes for all. :)

  12. That's too much snow. I just learned to cut an acorn squash in half safely: I started the knife in it , and then used the knife and it's handle like a handle and banged the squash on the hard counter. That way I was not in the knife's path. We're ordering lots of Pepto Bismol to get through the next 4 years. he's a jerk. I'm waiting for all of those who voted for him to be betrayed, but they may not realize it. Linda in Kansas

  13. Great photos of your family. Everyone is having fun!
It is too cold -18 temps, I would be hibernating.
Take care, have a wonderful week!

  14. Shoveling paths for pets ~~ I've had to do that for my short legged dog. While I'd like some snow...I don't quite want that!
How fun! A Cross Country ski race! I love to see kids in winter sports.

    Stay warm.

  15. Seeing your family having fun together is a smile bringer. Sorry about the finger. As for me I am dangerous around knives in that I wasn’t allowed to touch them for a while. Not so bad now, touching wood! Speedy healing wishes. As for the other, I switched the news off for long spells. When I turn it back on it is like watching Peyton Place, nothing changes even after all this time.

  16. I thought of going to that Lord of the Rings event. From the angle of the shot I get a sense of where they were sitting. I've seen two Star Wars films done with an orchestra there.
