Happy New Year!

I'm not one for looking back in terms of news. I loathe those annual summaries of the previous year. We know the horrors, they stick in our minds. It is tricky balancing mental health and all the wrongs in the world. I need to remember the good times, look forward, and turn the news off once you get your fill.

Society changes, and evolves, this is what we hope for. Too many eschew laws, and want freedom to do what they want. Then there is the fearmongering media, who predict disasters.

Sadly, the 'Mango Mussolini' as someone called him, keeps complaining about other countries. I think Canada needs a wall! This was mid-November, 2024. We have more problems with people smuggling guns and drug INTO Canada, not the other way around. Buckle up, buttercups, it's gonna be a ride.

The sun shone on the snow last week. This being my Day Behind blog, I'm now a happy week behind! This was Dec. 24th.

Sunsett 4:55, the next photo at 6:11.

By Tuesday, New Year's Eve, we were melting.

The deer were nibbling on the dead, brown grass out back.

Dec. 31st, after rain, the snow is nearly gone. We had lots of precipitation.

Tuesday, the sun rose. I loathe a muddy winter.

Dec. 30th, no wonder we lost the snow

We've a Colorado Low going by. More rain, then likely snow. We have snow right now, 8 a.m.

Let's have some hope for the future. We'll have to help one another get through this. Canada is likely having an election, as well. Let's hold hands across our borders.

I did start the year well:

  2. Happiest of 2025 wishes for you! I somehow think you should have more snow...just because it's pretty like your photos. If I were in charge of the world...ooh that's a dangerous place to go!

  5. We didn't get much rain here and no snow at all. It is very dreary though.

  7. The Mango Mussolini. I like that. It took me a second. I love how he thinks he can control everything.
Anyway. Happy New Year and may you not have to hear or see the Orange Menace on TV [though it may be hard not to].

I've got my fingers crossed for this next year and what may come. I need to concentrate on positives.

    1. Yes! Very smart! Let's not exhaust and disempower ourselves just when we need to. Stay cool and carry on and pay attention. I think you are 100% right and I'm wishing you a wonderful year full of Aloha and health ahead

  10. Oh how I wish we would get snow. Our kiddos that just moved to Colorado had snow last night...the first time for the great grandkids to see it. Hope you all have a wonderful 2025. Stay warm, stay safe and enjoy every single Blessing large or small.

  12. I am seriously glad that Canada is so close! BC is a 5-hour flight from Honolulu and I have a very dear friend there too! I can't believe I'm thinking like this but I'm obtaining my first passport!

  16. I too loathe a brown winter; I am all about a white winter. That said, we had a brown Christmas, but that is a lot of time left.

  17. You have some brutal weather. But I think you are used the big changes. I am hopeful that things will not fly off the rails. they will spend most of the time bickering with each other.
