I am happy bird watching! Especially when it is really cold, or damp, or raining! This morning it is -14 ℃!
Can you see what is missing↕ ?!
When we had wind and snow, I didn't realize the wind sock had disappeared. It has been quite effective keeping the birds from flying into the window. The wind blows it, and the birds realize there is something there.
It wasn't until we came home from Ottawa, and it went from 5 ℃. down to below zero. The wind sock was frozen into the eavestrough!
I waited patiently until it warmed back up and got it down. I moved it, and switched hooks with the red bell wreath.
OK, Birdwatching!
I like this photo, with the horse chestnut bud blocking her eye!
It is really late for a starling. Dec. 9th! They should have flown south.
Dec. 4 the frog pond: so many critters are sleeping in here, frogs, tadpoles, salamanders, mosquito larvae eggs!
Frog pond Dec. 11
The furry critters have been few and far between! I toddled down Dec. 11th to fetch the video card.

COLD critters! Love the wind sock idea to help the birdies. Be careful yourself out there! Linda in Kansas
ReplyDeleteHello,
ReplyDeleteI am seeing big flocks of starlings here. Pretty capture of the cardinal. Looks like the coyote likes your property. Great photos and videos. Thank you for linking up and sharing your post. Take care, have a great day and a happy weekend. PS, thank you for leaving me a comment.
Oops, no comments here again. So glad you were able to rescue the cute wind sock.
ReplyDeleteThere are still lots of starlings here. It is cold here too but at least it is sunny.
ReplyDeleteThe wind socked it to the socket.
ReplyDeleteThank you for the nice visit. I like your hangings and of course your critters. Aloha
ReplyDeleteI never tire of bird watching either. Your current temperatures are cold. We have the opposite problem. It will be 35C today and 37/38C tomorrow. Bleah.
ReplyDeleteStay warm stay safe.
Cute birds.
ReplyDeleteEnjoying birdwatching in such cold weather is impressive! Your story about the wind sock and critters, like the late starling and the creatures in the frog pond, adds a fun, nature-filled touch to the chilly days. Keep observing—sounds like a peaceful retreat!
ReplyDeleteYou've had some very nasty weather.
ReplyDeleteOh gosh! That's 7 degrees F! We're cold at 60 degrees F here in Hawaii. But I do remember the Chicago freezes.
ReplyDeleteThose winter birds are troopers! Great idea with the windsock.
ReplyDeleteI saw a few starlings here also in SW WI. Odd to see them now. I also heard a few Robins when down in the valley.
ReplyDeleteCool vids and critters!
