Saturday's Critters

Welcome to Saturday's Critters. Thanks to Eileen who faithfully hosts! Saturday's Critters # 485

We had snowfall Wednesday late afternoon. This predates it, but with the new snow it is more timely. Saturday morning, we've a ton of rain. Merry April!

Cardinal

I finally figured out that he is trying to attack a rival, his image in the shed window. He does this on the front window, too, and grabs the cats' attention. They are very territorial now, leading up to nesting season.

Actually, Jenn, I rather think that Cardinal is catching insects; I see birds here doing this all the time and even have had some at my own window sill. It is not the glass they are going at, but the corners where the wee bugs and spiders nestle. Cardinals do supplement their diet this way for breeding, I believe. YAM xx

  8. Wonderful vid of the Pileated Woodpecker. I'd jump out of my skin to be that close to one! Deer are so wonderful to see, and your food is helping them survive at this lean time of year.

  16. One of the most joyful sounds of my day is the male cardinal who sings at the top of the birch in the backyard. It is wonderful!!

  17. Don't think so, YAM! The insects weren't out that day.
He's been doing this in the front window for a few weeks, too. No bugs there. It scares the cats!
